Judging by the fact that tank driving games (that I found; didn't really search much) aren't flagged with it, this is only for driving in races? I would think race driving would be combination of sport and driving, but I guess I was wrong with that (and the examples seem to indicate sports too)? Anyway, if this truly is only for sports driving, then am I supposed to use ambiguous driving tag for other cases? just using "driving" would make it confusing in presence of the tag. And there are plenty of other non sports car driving games out there, plus my original assumption seems much better solution anyway.

This would also mean racing/driving should be called just driving and could be moved under simulation, with some adjustments to the examples so it covers wider variety of driving games. Much like FPS it the sports racing could have a shorthand in the search dialog, too.

Racing/driving means essentially "racing game", but not only includes classic racing games, but also games like "Driver" or "GTA" (but not slow paced tank simulations). Maybe "driving" could be removed from the gametype name if it confuses with games like tank simulations and create a driving tag. However that tag might be a bit too common then for my taste.

The next question is if rally, formula 1, nascar and similar games should have a gametype combination of sport/racing or just racing (as it is most often the case right now).

If racing is really sports racing, then the driving part from the name should be removed and it should be placed "below" sports so the relation is clear (like shooter is below action). Although that would likely make it unlikely to be applied to GTA and the like after that. To me it sounds rather hackish solution to combine sports racing and non-sports "racing" in single game flag.

Still, I don't think the "too common" is quite valid point. Soccer is the most common tag so far, and unlikely to be dislodged from its position in any near future.

Of course, we could device some split for the types of "vehicles" the player gets to drive. Like wheeled, tracked, walking, and possibly others I can't think of. It might have more interest from people, but I think that kind of detail should be given to many other things as well. I'm pretty sure there are many who'd want to pilot fighter planes, shooting down some anonymous foes rather than Boeings, and vice versa. And something for the more imaginative vehicles.

Edit: Does this mean only driving games where the player is in control of a motorbike, car or something car-like are valid for being tagged as racing/driving? If not I have no idea what the flag is supposed to mean. This would remove construction vehicles, which I seem to remember some racing game to have, and well.. Wipeout series doesn't have cars either... many tube racing games don't have them either, although often they vaguely resemble bikes. This would be more efficient to split it to racing and driving, where driving is for games that aren't any form of sports (like GTA [police chases aren't racing] and Interstate). I'll go with the tagging for now, though. It should be simple to fix it if we change how these work with some simple script.

Edit2: boat racing? and other watercraft... no way to find those either, so they'd benefit from the vehicle type definitions as well, and possibly racing location info.

Edit3: and what to call all these anti-grav thingies? although I don't mind separating hovertanks and hovercars, I'm having trouble categorizing some other cases as hovercars as they don't even resemble cars. Hovercraft is wrong since it's a realworld vehicle that doesn't use any scifi to work. Hover vehicle passed my mind, but I have no idea if people would mistake it for hovercraft or think something similar. Antigrav vehicle was another, but the tag name would be difficult to read without adding hyphenation.

Boat racing, tube racers etc are all flagged under racing/driving so far. That's why I suggested to remove the driving part of that gametype if it causes confusion. In my opinion racing itself should stay its own gametype though and not put beneath sports (only combined with sports if necessary and wanted by the majority of UVL editors). While some gametypes are a bit vague, I never ever had problems with racing/driving so far, I have to add.

That soccer is the most common tag right now might be because nearly all soccer games have the word soccer (or football) in their title and thus were very easy to find and tag. They have a very high tag completion rate I guess. With other potentially high number tags this is not the case and we are still scratching at the surface.
