A bit weird here with 100+ links ... At first look it reminds me a p0rn/spam site. 8-|
Is there something that can be done here?
Just asking, don't worry, it's just... weird...
The game references an unusual number of other works. That is, it refers to them, borrows text/quotes, borrows visuals, borrows characters, etc. It, not unusual for any form of entertainment to do this and its only slightly less utilized in videogames. But for the King's Quest series, and specifically this fan created one, the references are a major portion of the game and not being familiar with these sources detracts quite a bit from the experience.
The links are being transitioned from a list of links in the description (made before we had 'site link' articles). From their, I plan on transitioning them further into tags, thus moving many of the links onto the corresponding groups. The reason I'm not going 'all tags' for these references yet, is because most of them are unique to this game for the moment. For instance, how many videogames reference Shakespeare's The Two Noble Kinsmen (for that matter, how many entertainment works reference it at all?, not counting
The Simpsons that reference everything). It seems rather silly to define a ShakespeareNobleKinsmen group unless more games reference it. Also there is the problem of referencing a work as opposed to a game being based on it (maybe strengthed tags would fix this?)
As always, I'm open to suggestions
re: Link farmOo
Wouldn't it be enough to say in the description that this game makes unusually many references to popular movies, stories and other games? Maybe creating one single tag/group for exactly this kind of game that has so many references to other media?
The original article was nice with the majority of the text hidden in [ spoiler ], although even with that it probably should've been inside a reply (article with link to its reply, saying something like "click here for full list of references" or some such) so it wouldn't load on the main page. I doubt many are interested in the full list, even if they do play the game (I rarely am, at least).
