Have found this link about our shader models groups, nice to see our graphs used :-)

About shader models
I would like to point out that annoyingly small number of games actually state the shader model version they require. They usually just state the minimum GPU they need, and that in most modern games support SM3-4, but that's hardly evidence of them actually using it.
Edit: the article makes also a false assumption about the tags. They represent what games support, not minimum, recommended or maximum. There are plenty of games that support SM1.3 and SM2 or SM2 and SM3, and I think HL2 supports SM1.x and SM2 and even GPUs without either (shaders disabled). In similar vain, HL2 supports DX 7 to 9, not just one of them.

The "Can utilize Shader Model x.x" is clear enough to me, but it is interesting to see that that part is not correctly understood.
