Do you think it would be possible to make "automatic tags" ?
For example, a game tagged as "dbz" would be automatically tagged as "dragonball", a game tagged as "jurassicpark" would be automatically tagged as "dinosaurs", a game tagged as "mickey" or "donald" would be automatically tagged as "disney", "nba" => "basketball", "nhl" => "hockey" etc etc...
Well, I could display "related" tags as in groups pages (i.e. streefighter has arcadeport, kof, marvel and xmen)
The problem is that related tags are computed grouping all the tags of the games with the starting tag, so if you omit tagging "nba" AND "basketball" in all games, the relation disappear.
How would you like to see it work? Have you seen in some other tag-based site?
Well, I haven't seen it in other tag-based site, in fact I think I don't know any tag-based site except UVL...
I thought that you (and editors maybe) could specify some tags that involve another one (nba involves basketball, dbz involves dragonball and dragonball involves anime, ...). Then, if someone add the "dbz" tag to a game, UVL automatically adds "dragonball" and "anime" tags to the game.
I thought that but I don't know if it would be easy to handle, what happens if someone makes a mistake and says that "anime" involves "dbz" ? (dbz => dragonball => anime => dbz => dragonball => ...), I thought about the "anime" tag which is not used so often in relation to the quantity of "anime" games, I discovered this tag recently so I think I've never added this tag to an "anime" game. If these "automatic tags" existed, it would add tags that editors didn't think about (as I've explained for "anime").
It's just an idea, you see if you think it's a good one or not...
The more I think about it, the more I like...
Every group could have an additional field with a list of additional tags (editable via the usual "group editing page").
The "dbz => dragonball => anime => dbz etc." issue is not a problem, as I would not do it recursively.
These additional tags should be added wisely, just the obvious like "nba > basketball" and not with synonims like "kof > kingoffighters" or similar.
I should finish all the other "half done" things before this... ;-)
