The setting is a combination of classic fantasy and horror, though I found that the only creepy thing about this game is the enormous amount of leveling-up you have to do. Without this you don't have the slightest chance against the monster attacks. If you don't like this aspect in early RPGs then stay away from this game. Gameplay is very similar to 'Dragon Quest 2'.
