Game description taken from Turk1014's Technos Samurai FAQ:

This game features things River City Ransom didn't, like more techniques, techs, more items, more than secret shops, and a storyline that makes more sense. You even get to have an ally, the dude running around beside you. Plus, it takes place in feudal Japan.

Here's how it goes: Kunio has to go see his master, Bunzo, because he is in some kind of trouble. Kunio's brother, Tsuu, tells him to wait. Right in front of the dojo(?) you meet Asaji and Okoto. Apparently, Asaji and Okoto are fiances and Kunio appears to be jealous saying, 'we'll see about that!' Kunio enters Bunzo's (that's the dojo, I think it's a dojo.) Tora, a bad guy, has cursed Bunzo. To get rid of the curse, he needs some Kanpou. So begins Kunio's quest or whatever.
