American McGee's Grimm is a story-driven action-adventure game. Each of the 24 self-contained game episodes is a twisted take on one of the world's best-known fairy tales. Every mission contain unique yet simple, easy-to-learn gameplay combined with a wry sense of dark humour. The game combines familiar exploration and questing conventions with a thematically inspired fighting mechanic based on the unique concept of "words as weapons".

Along the way, the player interacts with a vividly animated collection of familiar fairy tale characters and creatures, inhabiting a sumptiously realized storybook world.
