My opinion of this game was tainted, or rather not tainted, by having previously only played Final Fantasy and not even knowing about the real Final Fantasy II or Final Fantasy III games. For this reason, my rating was higher than I'm inclined to rate it now. But, when I think back. The game was new, massive, lots of surprise and wonder and, better than the 'original', when I played it. So, I'm not reducing my rating. To FFII and especially FFIII players, I'll warn, this game might not meet any expectations of better-than-what-came-before. But it will do it with a better interface and graphics. To those who've never played FFII and especially FFIII, it even better than what-came-before. And yes, I did rated FF higher, [i]and[/] claim this game is better. That's because FF is so much better than its contemporaries.

Someday I hope to play the real Final Fantasy IV.

Only version of Final Fantasy 4 officially released in the United States. This was actually a translation of the 'toned down' version made for kids in Japan. This was to make the game easer for children. It lacked most of the features in the original version- including many weapons, items, and a special item, the 'Porno Mag,' which couldn't actually be viewed.

Actually Final Fantasy IV toned down and renamed for American players, this is the first installment of the Final Fantasy series for SNES. Not much really stands out in my mind about this game, it's average compared to others. The down side of this game, to me as a gamer, was not only the fact they tried to conceal the absence of the other two NES games by changing the number, but that we received the 'easytype' of the game. Many still consider this game a classic, arguably the best of the series. I've not personally finished the hard type yet, but Final Fantasy V was much nicer, in my opinion.
FFIV is still one of the best rpgs for the snes. It's plot is one of the most well thought up of any rpg.

Editor note

Note that Easytype was actually made from the untranslated US template and is much easier than the actual US version. There's apparently a misconception that the US version was made from the Easytype instead.
