Electronic Arts made an adapter box to plug into both ports of a compatible Megadrive for 4 ports. few 4wp games are Team Play compatible
The 4-way play adapter only plugs into consoles that have the 2 controller ports side-by-side and the standard distance apart. Otherwise you will need two DB-9 extension cables with all 9 pins,to connect to adapt the 4-way play to your separated controller ports. For instance, the CDX unit has the controller ports near the front corners of the unit, and facing 'wall-eyed' instead of parallel.
