This is mostly for "sports", competitions and such. Not necessarily the kind where unwilling prisoners are thrown to fight for their freedom.

Difference to normal sports is that the point is to kill your opponent(s) by whatever means necessary rather than to strictly adhere to some rules and restrictions.

Not limited to animals as blood sports seem to be almost exclusively, nor to humans as gladiatorial fights often are.
