In 1994 Apogee created a new division, 3D Realms Entertainment, with the goal of developing innovative, interactive, immersive and of course fun 3D action games. In 1998 became an equity partner with Gathering of Developers.
3D Realms was legally named Apogee Software, Ltd..
Closed down on 2009-05-06 due to lack of funding.
Brand bought by Interceptor Software around 2014-03-03.
