Quake II is a game of first-person shooter developed by id Software that occurs in an environment of science fiction. In single-player mode, the player assumes the role of a marine named Bitterman taking part in Operation Alien Overlord ', a desperate attempt to protect the Earth from an alien invasion by launching a counterattack on the planet's hostile cybernetic Strogg civilization. Most of the other soldiers are captured or killed soon after their entry into the atmosphere of the planet, so it falls on the player to penetrate the Strogg capital city alone and ultimately to assassinate the Strogg leader, Makron.
This is not a result of Quake, merely uses the original name of the game due to difficulties in acquiring a trademark for the alternative names.
