Groups page update

2014-11-16
Finally, the groups section is now updated to the responsive layout, just like most of any other site areas.
The content layout was a bit rearranged too, hopefully in a better way.
Please report in you find any issues, and please note that due to caching some page could still look old. In this case editors can force a page update.

The by year graph seems to be in rather inconvenient location now at bottom left after everything else.

And there's no longer direct links to listings of games by platform.

The platform listing direct link is something I used.
I don't mind the graph where it is

The alternative names are placed kinda strangely to the right and middle when the main name is on the top left. This seems intentional but I don't quite see why.

The platform listing direct link is something I used too.

When the description is long, there is a big gap on the right column, here for example.

Found a little bug/wrong linking:

On the top you have the grey buttones with white letters. They name teran01's profile, preferred, played.... and so on. The issue is with the button "teran01's profile". Normally it links to http://www.uvlist.net/user/teran01

But when I go deeper and look at all my played C64 games http://www.uvlist.net/user/teran01/played/24 the link on the button changes to http://www.uvlist.net/user/teran01/24 -> which gives an error because it falsely adds the /24. Same problem with every users page.

Edit:
Oh I just recognised that this might be completely unrelated to the group change...

I have re-enable the direct links ( forgot to re-enable them after fixing some conflicts ) and and fixed some issues in the platforms and years charts.

-edit-
I have also fixed the layout a bit, to have less large white areas.

There's some white space on the left, and the articles included seem to be very much run-in or indistinct of each other: http://www.uvlist.net/groups/info/radar-imperfect

I'm still looking for the best balance.
I have moved back the alternate names on the left, the related companies on the right, renamed the "related" groups to "child groups" and moved just below the parent groups on the right.

The white space is sometimes noticeable because I am adopting a responsive grid so that on lower resolutions (mobile) the layout is made of just one column, keeping the informative text on top, followed by the screenshots and the extra data.
The content for each group is quite variable, and because the main layout blocks have to be aligned, in some (now quite more rare) cases some white space pops out.
In some cases this white space highlight the facts that some needed data (i.e. the main description) is missing.

Not sure on the placement of the character list near the bottom as well after screenshots. Depending on the tag it makes some sense to make them less visible tho, I guess.

I will qualify my suggestion by saying, I enter and edit characters, but never really pay much attention to them otherwise.

But it seems to me that they should go just below the related tags, but distinctive somehow as to not be mistaken for them.
