Namco Museum Vol. 3

For Volume 3 of their arcade emulator/ROM compilations, Namco greatly streamlined the 'museum' interface to load and react faster than before. The six games included in this one are Ms Pac-Man, Galaxian, Dig Dug (a personal favorite of the current author), Pole Position II, The Tower of Druaga, and Phozon. The first four games need no introduction to Western audiences - Ms Pac-Man and Pole Position II are still in many arcades even today. The Tower of Druaga is an odd type of maze game - almost a mesozoic RPG - laden with secrets and hidden items. (A tip book detailing the less-than-intuitive way you have to get those items is included free in the package.) Phozon is the type of game that might be a Windows desktop toy today; a pattern appears in the middle of the screen and you must catch bouncing 'molecules' to duplicate that pattern. All in all, great fun for young and old alike.

If you spent any time in arcades at all, you'll love this trip down memory lane. Galaxian, Dig Dug, The Tower of Druaga, Ms Pac-Man, Phozon, Pole Position II. Need I say more? The games are exactly like the ones you played in the arcades. Except this time, no quarters necessary.
