Some people are apparently having problems with the game's autoupdater, which is also the only way of getting the game patched. Luckily some wayward gamers have procured an unofficial method for patching the game, described in the following thread.

For your convenience, the instructions are duplicated here in fewer words:
1) Download the archive from: www.megaupload.com/?d=EUCHDI36
2) Extract the contents of the archive to its proper place
3) Create a .bat file in the game's folder and copy the following text into it.
