Description

The different versions of the game have different subtitles, Special Forces for the 2.x series, although they had a "sub"-subtitle as well.

Linux support was dropped in 2.5 version.

This is not a GPL program.

The script based installer is actually somewhat sane in its placement of the games files and provides an uninstaller in /usr/local/games/armyops/ . It also lets you customize the install location. To use the script, while logged into a a GUI desktop, run the following command as root:
sh armyops250linux.run
Then follow the instructions. You will need to install libstdc++5 (version 6 will not do it) also. This dependency causes the game not to run, is unmentioned in the documentation, and makes the install process slightly less than easy (if you don't know about it); this is why this entry has no specific distro tags. However, it runs on Ubuntu just fines after this issue is resolved.
