Personal review

Bokosuka Wars was a rather successfull game on several Japanese homecomputers, so ASCII decided to make a port for the Famicom system. Although the game never made it outside Japan it is not totally unknown in the west. The simple reason behind this is the fact that it is widely considered being one of the worst, if not the #1 worst game ever released for the Famicom/NES. And there are good reasons for this assumption. First of all the game is a technical catastrophe. Graphics are undetailed and plain, the scrolling is horrendous. Music is extremely repetitive. And the gameplay is, well... confusing at first. You control a king on his way 600 meters to the left to beat an evil boss. On his way you can find friendly forces hidden in trees or rocks. The king, each of his units and the enemies all have an attack value. So if you have bad luck your king will die confronting the first little enemy unit and it is Game Over. Maybe there are certain tactics giving a better chance to make it far. The problem is the whole game design and bad presentation makes you want to quit this game before finding it out.
