I don't think losing is possible in this game. Death only puts you out of combat for 5-10 seconds and you're back in action, auto regen also makes sure you have full health when entering new battles. Not even both characters dying seems to do anything significant. This is helpful though, as some actions are occasionally ridiculously difficult to pull off despite how simple they are. The game also capitalizes on context actions, so there isn't generally a wealth of actions available at all times.
