This product was unknown until a customer requested it from Maxis. At that time Maxis admitted the game's existence and said they would sell it directly to customers that requested it. The customer posted the news on Usenet and many OS/2 users bought this game despite Maxis' efforts to keep the product secret and make no money from it. By 1995 a demo version was available on various BBS, IRC, FTP, and web page sources.
This version is fully compatible with 'DOS' and/or 'Windows' expansion packs for SimCity 2000.
