Team6 Game Studios re-released the game on their own, through Xing Interactive, in late 2003. It was called New York Taxi 2 or Taxi Racer New York 2 and sold as a quasi-sequel. It had less features but was based on an updated version of the game engine. A legal defeat (most likely against Blimb Entertainment, through which the original game was released) later forced Team6 to cease and desist any sales or promotion of the game.
