Editor note

Announced as "The Last Ninja 2". Posters, box shots, screenshots, all the publicity showed materials that seems to be an graphicly improved The Last Ninja 2. But the publishers were hoping to spring a surprise on everyone. They were actually developing The Last Ninja 3. Retailers would have opened packing boxes of marked The Last Ninja 2 only to find The Last Ninja 3 games in The Last Ninja 3 boxes inside. The game would have the ninja protagonist piloting a bike, a plane, and a car intermittently as an addition to the gameplay elements of the previous two games. This may very well have been the Konix' killer app. But, no Konix, no release. A different The Last Ninja 3 game would be published about a year later for other systems.

A Prototype was eventually found and preserved. Contains music by Dave Lowe that exists nowhere else.
