Official description

The game is inspired by older bridge building games where you have to build bridges over rivers or gorges in a physicalized environment.
There is the gravity affecting your construction components, built of physicalized materials itself. Like steel beams, ropes and street segments.
With a limited budget of building materials you have to build your bridge wise, using bow constructions for example. After the building process a truck has to cross the bridge.
In 3DBE the player has the responsibility to steer the truck across the bridge in one piece.

In all the comparable existing games from smartphone to desktop pc versions you build the bridges in 2 dimensions. Means you draw lines from a side view and then they are converted into a 3D bridge. Its looking 3D, but the construction was 2D. In example you couldnt build the bridge in the picture (left side) from tennant creek in australia. Nor the construction of the websites background (ingame screenshot made in 3DBE).
So with 3DBridgeEngineer it will be possible to construct in 3 dimensions. That gives you a lot more capabilities how you build.

A 3D editor may sound strange for the casual user, but its still a game not a professional 3D graphics software. Like in the other bridge building games you just keep drawing lines with the mouse. The mousewheel is used to change the height of positions, the 3rd dimension, and thats it. Lots of automatic helpers are included in the editormode to make sure it remains easy.
The Leveldesign will keep around the subject of building bridges, but is also taking into account the possibilities of the 3D editor. Thusly there will be really different tasks to solve and also different ways to build a bridge.

Following you see a list of the Key Features:

- real construction in 3D.
- physics engine, also with displaying the physical stress on every single prefab.
- endless possible constructions to build in a simple 3d Editor using and combining the materials: beams, ropes, streetsegments (plates) and hydraulics.
- changeable color for every single object you build. Also for every part in the leveleditor.
- adjustable strength of the ropes and beams in 5 steps. Shown optically by the diameter.
- adjustable gravity and time to analyse the physical stress in slowmotion.
- many helpers for a better orientation in 3d space.
- place structure anywhere in endless space.
- a tool to extrude selected beams. Means i.e you can draw a rectangle of beams and extrude them to a lattice cube, to fasten the building.
- a copy and paste tool to save time when you just need a copy of an existing structure.
- a Leveleditor to build terrain, environment and placing objects and to adjust most settings. The Leveleditor is fully combatible with the included campaignlevels. Means you can change or expand the given levels and save them.
- load save and sharing of the levels and constructions. Possibilty to export to future programms.
- drivable truck with inboard camera.
- easy modding of the most important game parameters and graphics.
- 20 pretty different levels in the release. 5-10 in the first Alpha.
- Mouseover help for every function and an Introduction.

Description

Build truly 3D bridges in a 3D environment. Then use them. In mission mode, its not just about a truck on a bridge. For instance you have to move a load from A to B. It may be moved via conventional road, towers, cranes, and maybe even things the developer never conceived of. The editor lets you build just about anything.

What ship is gonna come up this river that requires a draw bridge? Oh well, don't question government bureaucracy, it pays your salary.
