Personal review

The first game in Capcom's well-known fighting series. A majority of trademarks start here: colorful characters, great backgrounds in a variety of international locations, six attack buttons, and powerful special moves. Unfortunately, what's missing is the most important quality for a game to have. The controls in the game are horrid; even if you've been performing dragon punches for years, you'll find it far more difficult here, if not impossible. Lots of people remember Street Fighter II as the start of the Street Fighter series, and this game will hardly be able to convince them otherwise. It's a shame, since this had so much potential to be great. At least Capcom ironed things out in 1991.

Official description

These are the streets. And there are no rules when you do battle here.
STREETFIGHTER is strictly survival of the fittest against 8 of the baddest dudes from around the world.
Watch out for flying scissor kicks, lethal Ninja weapons, and other evil tricks.
Block their attacks while you counter with jabs and roundhouse kicks.
Don't drop your guard cause these guys aren't just b-b-b-b-bad. They're "Bad to the Bone.
