Editor note

Eric Parker designed graphics routines to redraw only areas of the screen that changed between frames. Nothing particularly new, but this is the first (and only?) time it happened on a 68k Mac (a machine with no specialized graphics hardware originally intended for binary color text and the occasional icon and a highly specialized OS for the same purpose). The ocean has waves, the roads and runways have lines, the sky has multiple types of clouds, planes cast shadows, fires burn on planes and aircraft carriers, and carriers may experience fully simulated sinkings.

The flight model is reportedly quite sophisticated as well.
