Description
Perhaps 90% of this game boils down to writing and rewriting your AIs. I have never been much of a programmer, and I have long since forgotten what programming lore I did know. To me, the AI language seems designed to be easy to learn; it includes enough commands to build effective programs without using advanced concepts such as recursion, and functions. The command set is an good mix of specialized commands (Raise shield, Move forward) and basic programming staples (If / Then, Goto). I suspect non-programmers will, like me, pick up the language in a few hours; and experienced programmers will likely need only to glance at the specialized commands.
Once finished with your AI, the game provides several scenarios and maps to test out your design. Also included are the basic tools for a limited sort of multiplayer gaming: players can exchange their passworded AI files and maps created with the included editor. The registered version also provides support for tournaments between as many as 500 different AIs
