Description
Client runs on MS-DOS, Server runs on MS-DOS.
The client software 2.22+ requires AOL for Windows 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 for 9600+ baud and An AOLnet or SPRINTnet connection. I do not know client requirements for running under MS-DOS.
A 500 player persistent world online game based on SSI's game engine used in their 'Gold Box Series' of AD&D games. Precursor to the Black Isle Studios version. Combat is turn based with a 20 second time limit and absolutely no pausing. A 300 baud connection will cut your turn time to a still playable 5 seconds. The client software can be made to work with modem, cable, LAN and private internet connections. A single player game is included with the software. Neverwinter Nights ceased to exist on AOL at the height of its popularity in 1997 after the continuous negotiations between AOL, TSR and SSI stopped.
The title might be a reference to the ancient Nordic festival of Veturnætur (translated: "Winter Nights")
