Mindark licensed CryEngine2 in 2007 for Entropia Universe, but they seem to be still in the process of adjusting it to run the old game world.

gender choice — IIRC, this is limited to gender which you chose when you created your account (not with each individual character you make), so you're stuck with that gender with each account. However this was years ago when I last tested the game so I can't be too certain the limitation is still in effect.
