Personal review

Panel de Pon is the original game released in Japan. Tetris Attack is the modified game released in Europe/USA with the graphics changed to Yoshi. The Japanese version has more "cutesy" anime-style artwork and Tetris Attack features... well... Yoshi. I'm not sure if there's a difference in the gameplay so I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.

Official description

When the TETRIS legacy travels to Yoshi's Island, there's no saying what madness will ensue. Of course, with Kamek and Bowser providing the challenges, it's safe to say your reflexes will be pushed to their limits. The stack of shapes on the playing field will mount quickly, and you'll have to use every bit of instinct you have to stop the enemy attack from above. Lots of competitive modes provide countless hours of fun, and the tension escalates the farther you get in your journey. One-player modes include: Endless, Time Trial, Stage Clear, Puzzle, and Vs. Computer. Of course, you can always invite a friend over and go at it head-to-head. Adjustable difficulty settings make TETRIS ATTACK perfect for all skill levels.
