Personal review

Bigger and more non-linear than the first Dragon Quest. Now you have three characters in your party. There ist still very much time spend with leveling your characters via random monster fights. Perhaps the most difficult title in the whole series.

Though the time of his deeds has long faded, still the name of Erdrick commands respect among even the greatest of warriors. Stories of his lineage are legendary throughout the land and have been retold through the ages in the most remote villages and townships. Long ago a young man, who was a descendant of Erdrick, saved the Kingdom of Alefgard by defeating the dreaded Dragonlord. The young man came to this land accompanied by Princess Gwaelin. Together they built TORLAND.

Editor note

Dragon Warrior is called Dragon Quest in Japan. The Japanese version used passwords but the US version used battery backed save RAM.

In keeping with Nintendo's policy of removing 'religious' references from American versions of their games, crosses on churches were replaced with the Star of David and coffins with crosses on them were replaced with ghosts. ?.
