Description
Another 3 in 1 from WisdomTree. The Bible has very little to say about the early years of Jesus. WisdomTree decided to set three games in this phase of Jesus' life. All three games use the same engine which appears to be an updated version of the one used for Bible Adventures. This is one of the few NES games to have a Christmas theme.
The Wise Men
On your way to present gifts to baby Jesus, collect incense, myrrh, and gold. You'll be riding the famous spitting camel as seen in other WidomTree games. Inexplicably, there's a giant ape? to fight a along the way. And some lesser enemies. The music for this level is We Three Kings
Flight to Egypt
Control Mary, Joseph's, and Jesus' kicking donkey as they ride to Egypt to escape King Herod's decree to kill all newborn boys. Interestingly it appears you are traveling up? the Ascent of Adumim (the road where the Parable of the Good Samaritan takes place). I could be wrong, but I think traveling from Jerusalem to Egypt means traversing down this famous climb. The kicking donkey is not as famous as the spitting camel, but also makes an appearance in other WisdomTree games..
Jesus and the Temple
No riding an animal this time. When His mother notices Jesus is missing, Joseph goes looking for him on foot. I guess Mary noticing first proves the old adage,' Everyone needs a Jewish mother' (even Jesus:) Joseph must make his way to Jerusalem and finally the temple where Jesus is teaching The Word to impressed old dudes. The end of the game contains what may be the first alter call in gaming history. It refers the player to the manual for further instructions. While WisdomTree's emphasis of Bible canon and game quality are certainly questionable, this shows the they are in fact sincere and did not just make Christian games as a business ploy alone as some have suggested. The music for this game is What Child is This
This game is not related to Namco's King of Kings
This game can be played under emulation on WisdomTree's site.
