Hokuto no Ken: Seijetsu Juuban Shoubu

This game lacks where most fighting games lacked in the pre Street Fighter 2 era, namely good playability. Add this with the small Game Boy screen which makes some special attacks hard to see and the outcome is a rather disappointing game. The fine graphics for an early Game Boy title are the best thing about the game.

A pretty solid game in the first-year library of the Game Boy. The graphics are pretty good for its time (even if a lot of the characters look pretty similar), and the gameplay isn't too shabby (even if it is a bit unbalanced). Choose Kenshiro or one of ten other fighters from the anime/manga series, such as Shin, Jagi, or Raoh, and duke it out to become the champion. A team battle mode is included (possibly the first of its kind) where you may choose five characters to pit against a friend's team until one side is out.
The Japanese subtitle means something like "10 Violent Bouts".
