VC2006 Raft Rider cartridge published 1982
Raft Rider GameLine service definitely published in 1989
Thought for some time to only have been published on the GameLine service in 1989. Turns out there is a rare cartridge version by US Games published in 1982.
In this game, the play controls a minor during the Alaska/Yukon gold rush. He's piloting a raft full of supplies and gold nuggets down the river. Along the way there are addition gold nuggets to be found in the river and collected by passing the raft over them (aim low). The river is full of obstacles such as rocks, moose, falling trees (darn beavers!), and such. The physics of rowing a boat are simulated. Note, the character is by default rowing backward to slow his forward progress. So when he puts all of his energy to rowing left of right (up or down), the forward momentum of the raft will increased. Also, moving the joystick left or right causes the character to begin rowing, the raft only begins to move after this. The rowing is not visually simulated however. This leads many to believe there is something wrong with the controls.
