0 A.D.  Wildfire Games2009***0 A.D. is an original historical Real Time Strategy game that has been in development since June 2001 and was licensed under the GPL on July 10th, 2009 marking its first public release. It focuses on the major civilizations' interactions with Rome and military units; less on civilian interaction. Further focus is placed on the BC civilisations. Present will be Romans, Hellenes (Athenians, Spartans and Macedonians), Carthaginians, Persians, Iberians, Celtic Britons and Gauls. Egyptians, Franks, Huns, Goths, Dacians, and peoples from the far east are also being discussed in wildfire's extensive collection of historical articles. Historical cultures, subcultures, battles, equipment, languages, and people will be part of the game. For instance Ambrosius Aurelianus is a character and the Celts will have a slight agricultural advantage due to their use of plows. Attic Greek will be spoken. The battles, and politics and interactions of the Maccabees, Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and are included (Wildfire staff include people of many faiths, including religiously faithful and devout atheist). Wildfire checks their facts with actual historians. However, they have admitted they will "circumvent" certain historical facts for the sake of balanced and fun gameplay, family friendliness, and simplicity required by the medium. Jesus will not be included as a character out of respect. They mention the possibility of fully historical, "WFG history mods", community modules, and characters, being added later. Nomadic cultures and fishing are planned for a later module. Wildfire will endorse high quality mods. There will be AI players and versatile team play witho or without them. Players can trade with any civilization on the map. Soldiers are also citizens with 'civilian responsibilities'. Their service to their country does not consist only of fighting battles. Units automatically upgrade themselves. Units automatically tend to their own health. Hero units based on historical figures are several times stronger than most units and have a special gameplay value. All units are basically historical, so there are no naming of them. Units can be captured and recruited or rarely defect. Structures play a part in battles; soldiers can fight on and inside structures (but there are not indoor maps). Terrain and structures are 3D and effect gameplay. Ships are done to scale and people and equipment placed realistically. There will be weather and seasons and effect there of. Provinces and Territories will be present in some modes but not all. There is an overall reduction of technology and economy micromanagement in favor of managing strategy and tactics. Food, wood, stone and ore will need to be collected and are exhaustible. Fog of War and Shroud of Darkness is optional. There is no line-of-sight. Random natural disasters will not occur, just historic ones. Pillaging is not managed by the player, it just occurs. Certain animals can be hunted or domesticated. There are no locked campaigns or enforced order but each campaign has its own sequence that must be followed. Cheat codes can be unlocked by completing campaigns. Campaigns are only for single player games; multiplayer games are a custom configured campaigns by the hosting system. Zooming is allowed and rotation is optional/per game supported. The camera is perspective. Camera continues to function during cut scenes. Cut scenes are performed with the existing game object, not separate videos. There is no multimonitor support built-in. The game will run in a window. The source code is platform independent but Wildfire is not doing an OSX version themselves. The community is encouraged to compile the code for other platforms. LAN/Internet games are cross-platform. Only single player mode can be paused. The current version (as 2010-02-12) is limited to 6 players. This will probably be increased to 8. A 56k connection is sufficient for 6 player games. Play session is designed to last 1 hour but can take as long as 3 hours. Uses TCP/IP for multiplayer. Will not use direct Modem, IPX, or direct cable link (unless your system can do TCP/IP over said cable ). Custom anti-cheat systems are being employed for both single and multiplayer games. Replays are no rewindable nor cross-system playable. However, they can be fast forwarded and the possibility of stopping a replay to play from that point remains. Extensive tools for modding and creating content for all aspects of the game are included (except for sounds, which must be ogg files created externally). Games scripting is done in javascript.

The content of the game is licensed under the BY-SA Creative Commons license. The game engine is original. Wildfire games has stated that the game will be downloadable and playable over the Internet at no cost. There will not be a demo version but the game will be split into separately downloadable modules. There may be a boxed version available for reasonable fee. The modular design is also intended to encourage community mods. Community discussion includes discussion of Tolkien, Arthurian, and Ancient Egyptian, inspired modules.

The people at Wildfire games are aware that there is no Year 0. "Indeed. Think of 0 A.D. as a hypothetical time period that never existed. It is a snapshot in time where major players of the classical ages were placed in an observatory. This is your chance to see them 'duke it out'. Your job as the player is to create the hypothetical and recreate the historical." -From the official web site.

Wildfire games is also the developer of Age of Empires II: Age of Kings. 0 A.D. which is otherwise unrelated to AoK. 0 A.D. is not a mod, add-on, or total conversion of any other game although in its initial planing stages it was to be total conversion of AoE2. The Last Alliance is a 'sister project' to 0 A.D. Resources are shared between the two.

Alien Assault TearDown2009Latest version: 1.021 (as of 2010-02-01)***The game was at some point in or before 2009 called Space Hulk as the game was a clone of the board game and possibly of the [game=Space Crusade]Space Crusade[/game] computer game (which also was a computer adaptation of the original boardgame). However, the game name as well as all references to Warhammer 40,000 were removed at some point after this, though in essence the game has not been changed (gameplay is still the same). * 512 MB VRAM******"Alien Dominion: The Acronian Encounter" is an a 3d space shooter game for the PC/Windows platform intended to be downloaded from various game portals. The player is in a role of a gunner/shooter of a ship escaping an alien invasion in order to warn the rest of humanity of the incoming attack. It’s basically a rail shooter, so the player does not control the ship only defends it.

There are 2 gun groups attached to the ship: upper and lower. As the player drags the mouse the cannon groups are switched to cover all the space around the ship. Each level has it’s story, but basically you need to take down all/most of the targets that are attacking and thus to survive.

The levels last for 10 minutes each and are finished once the player reaches that time point – and is alive. The last level lasts a bit longer (15 minutes). The game contains 6 levels.

After the level completion there is a shop with various utilities and armaments. Eg. better guns, shields, time-warp (slowdown), gun enhancements etc. Money(crystals) is gained by destroying alien ships – the better shooter you are more crystals for use in the shop.

Are you up to the challenge space warrior?

Game Features:
* Fastest and most intense 3d space shooter game you have ever seen – feel free to compare it to other games!
* The ship is driven by the pilot, and you defend with 2 turrets (upper and lower) covering all the space around the vessel (this is a 3d "rail" shooter game)
* Unique feel of intense battle and adrenalin pumping trough your veins
* 6 blood pounding missions with great heavy metal tracks while shooting down the invading force, with an option of muting the music if you rather prefer silence or playing some custom tunes on your favorite player in the background
* Hours and hours of fun play before you successfully survive the last world and inform humanity about the Acronians – rewarded by a neat animation at the end
* Over one hour of constant action needed to finish the game (if you survive all the levels in a row, that is...)
* 4 levels of difficulty (Rookie, Normal, Ace and Abnormal)
* Incredible environments and planets (you can’t land, that’s a decoration only, but very detailed I should add). Indie or casual games ususally do not have that.
* Flexible graphics settings to meet your hardware – indie or casual games usually do not have this – you can check the features and minimal/recommended specifications here
* 3d explosions with debris falling of everything you shoot at, plus beautiful particle effects
* Shop available at the end of each level: weapon, add-ons, shields, utilities, repair-bots... everything to make you happy.
* Intro and game complete cut-scenes
* Listen to in game chat of pilot, gunner and the ship’s AI to find out what happened meanwhile...

Alien Shooter - Revisited Sigma Team2009Un mata-mata ordinario, cuyo únicos factores reseñables son la habilidad que tiene la historia de meterte en apuros y la cantidad de zonas secretas que tiene el juego.

Mediocre.

3 de 10***Effectively the same game as the original Alien Shooter, but with improved graphics (on par with Alien Shooter 2, no longer the garish and brightly colored what it once was), and with some other improvements from the sequel brought back to the old, namely weapon reloading and flashlight upgrade. The levels have been stretched a bit to give more free space to move in without appearing strange. The general shape of the levels is identical, enemies are also nearly identical to the old with largest changes to their ranged attacks. The standard pistol has been replaced with an uzi that is much more useful, although is only useful against green enemies (color coding is identical to the original). Also, if you lose all your lives, you no longer have to replay the whole game to retry, but start of the mission (you can freely replay already finished missions in similar manner).

Alien Shooter  Big Fish Games;Sigma Team (Sigma Team)2002The endless darkness and the somber, long passages of a military complex have become the abode of evil, as thousands of blood-thirsty creatures fill its offices, storehouses and mysterious laboratories.

Your mission is simple: clear the base at all costs. You will be provided with explosives to help you gain access to the teleports from where thousands of pitiless creatures pour. A stationary gun will aid in the defense of the area. You have been granted access to the most advanced weapons technology money can buy. As you earn your pay, you can equip yourself with additional weapons in the arming area and biomechanical implants that will make your fighting abilities super human.

The alien invasion has begun, we have one chance, and that is to stop them cold in their staging area. Do not allow them escape this facility, you are our last hope. The fate of humanity now depends on you!***Minimum:

Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded Sigma Team2009Notable differences with the original are missing voice overs, the lack of separate weapon skills - you no longer need certain level on a weapon skill to use more powerful weapons - and the damage modifier has been merged with accuracy skill (formerly this was purely accuracy, now it's universal weapon skill, offering both increased accuracy and some damage improvements). This simplifies your weapon choices to economic issues. Implants no longer have intelligence requirement and you can only have one implant in use at any time, effectively making intelligence almost pointless (formerly lack of intelligence restricted more powerful implants from your use and you could have 3 implants total in use). Armor skill has been removed completely, allowing anyone to wear any armor they want. And then there's the additional missions (missions 8 and 9, a small town). And net ranking.***Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded is a modified version of the Alien Shooter 2 game. We started working on it right after release of AS2, taking into account the players' wishes. Well, here's the list of what we've done:
1. Size of the full version installation file was reduced to 300 Mb, compared to 1Gb of the original Alien Shooter 2. Large installation file prevented users with slow connection from buying and downloading the game.
2. Player upgrade parameters simplified. Now you don't need to develop separate skills for each weapon type, so you'll be able to complete the game using all the weapon types featured in it.
3. Two new missions added. Now the game features 17 full levels.
4. New individual shooting mode added - Gun Stand. You will use powerful military equipment to eliminate advancing enemy troops. As the game goes on, you will upgrade your weapon in different ways, and the right choice will let you win the battle!

Strategy First published the game on 2007-10-18***For the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomena as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the pressure from public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their outlooks, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause.

By 2100, the world was more or less at peace, with continued discord in some regions as modernized military forces sought to track down and destroy the remaining terrorist cells that continued to fight and harass civilian and military alike. Regardless, as this war began to wane, it slowly moved out of the public's eye, and they began to pick up the pieces and try to make better lives for themselves. Not since the years following World War II had such prosperity been felt across the planet; even war-ravaged regions received a "Marshall Plan" of sorts, having their infrastructures built up far beyond what they ever were before.

As prosperity grew, so too did the ventures of capitalism. In this day and age, science was the 'new capitalism,' fueling the growth of amazing new technologies. The first high-profile ventures into the creation of a viable fusion energy source, an offshoot of the efforts of the aging multinational oil companies, began in 2105 in the United States, with the backing of billions of dollars in venture and government capital. The International Power Initiative of 2112, an agreement among nations investing in the fusion power project, but eventually including many hundreds of other projects based on energy, radically restructured how science was to approach new energy sources. The level of freedom granted to a group of corporations might have been dangerous one hundred years ago, but it was felt that today since there was not a rivalry in the race to find the secrets of fusion power first, that giving a corporation autonomy to do what it needed to do would foster creativity and growth on an unheard-of scale.

It didn't.

It's unknown whether the attack on this base was caused by the recent presence of a number of recently captured live bugs or whether it was just a random attack.

[3000AD]***A critical planetside tactical strike mission gone horribly wrong.
Shot down. Stranded. Lost. Left for dead.
The only way off this rock is through a very powerful enemy.
What else could possibly go wrong?

...apart from that ticking thermo-nuclear planet killer our drop ship launched earlier.

The Terrans have been at war with the Gammulan race for years. In an attempt to change the tide of war and take the battle to the enemy, Galactic Command, the Terran military body, launched an all out attack on the Gammulan homeworlds.

Deployed in a distant hostile territory on the other side of the known galaxy, GALCOM forces were met with repeated defeat and unprecedented losses. GALCOM deployed another fleet along with a decoy, the GCV-Excalibur, carrying a devastating orbit to surface weapon. The R.A.N.D.O.M (Random Access Nuclear Destruction of Obsolete Matter) weapon, otherwise known as the "planet killer". A weapon which had only been used once before.

After an intense battle, a badly damaged GCV-Excalibur managed to slip through the Gammulan defenses and attempted to land on the nearby Gammulan planet of LV-115. Engaged by undetected planet based Surface To Orbit weaponry, the all but destroyed craft crash landed on the hostile planet. But not before deploying the devastating weapon.

Badly damaged, ninety percent crew loss and with the R.A.N.D.O.M weapon deployed and ticking, the intense planetside battles that ensue tell the story of a surviving group of four combat veterans stuck on a hostile planet, believed dead, hunted by the enemy and in a race against time to either locate and disarm the weapon or get off the planet before it detonates. Problem is, the only way off the planet is through an overwhelming enemy force.

Even telling how to identify your allies positively (and thus who isn't your ally) by insignia, uniform appearance, etc. would've been extremely useful.

For Desmond, this is the life of Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad (الطائر), an assassin who lived during the Third Crusade in 1191. Although the story skips the kidnapping and starts with Desmond jagged into the Animus and experiencing some synchronization issues with it.

The game is difficult to categorize and abundantly lampshaded by the fact that most of the game takes place inside the Animus which has been created to produce a video game like experience, so effectively you're playing a video game inside a video game. And the experience produced by the Animus is an abstraction of sorts with various alterations that make it easier for the user to operate it, such as translating all languages to plain English and so forth. So any inconsistencies with reality are due to that, and since memories aren't exactly logical 1 to 1 copies of reality, much illogical instances can occur, some of which can be interpreted to mean some very strange things.

Things you may need to replay the whole game for:
In memory block 4, you have a chance to pickpocket Vidic to get his security pen. This opportunity does not represent itself and replaying the memory block later does not roll back time in the "real world".

After the credits you gain access to the conference room where you need Vidic's pen to access a computer, but there's nothing else after that besides your ability to replay the memory blocks and aim for 100% completion (collecting all the flags, killing the templars, scouting, and doing all the side tasks).
***Minimum:

Your new tribe bow before you in awe, and from this moment your prayer power starts to grow. As you carry out godly acts, the belief in you rises and more and more people are convinced that worshipping you in the way forward. But you can be good or evil. You may choose to rule the world as you wish.

As you grow in power, you acquire a Creature, a wondrous being capable of doing anything you can do. Capable of learning and being trained and capable of making his own decisions. The people of Eden, whether they believe in you or not, can't failed to be impressed by this beast, and more are swayed to your cause through their admiration of the Creature and the god that owns him.

But on other lands there are other gods. They have their own Creatures and their own followers. You must vie with them for power. You must use your Miracles, your Creature and your cunning to steal followers from these gods, and to do battle between the Creatures for supremacy.

The ultimate goal is the Creed. Elements of these live within each Creature, and he who controls the parts of the Creed can control the whole land of Eden.

You may do well. You may sway the minds of the tribes, but can you gather the parts of the Creed? Can you defeat the god of gods, the enemy of enemies? Can you defeat your Nemesis and rule over the whole world? That is a question only you, and only time will answer.***Latest version: 1.3 (as of ?)***Minimum:

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth  Bethesda Softworks;Ubisoft Entertainment (Headfirst Productions)2006INT 2009-06-16 on Steam, by Bethesda Softworks (lang: eng, fre, ger)***The game is initially very much like survival horror, but "degenerates" sometime in the midpoint of the game to stealth FPS and later to plain FPS (although only because the enemies no longer have firearms and you don't have to watch out for them shooting at you anymore, the character is extremely frail [compared to other FPS games] and wouldn't survive such).
There may be some confusion on the true nature of the protagonist. But, if one bothers to understand the mythos, we can see that the Yith only swapped bodies with him. Explaining the sequence where he was in an alien body for a time, and the amnesiac time of his past. His consciousness had been swapped by the Yith, leaving his consciousness in the "original" body of the Yith who had taken over his. Some have proposed that the protagonist himself is Yith but this ignores how the Yith work (they swap minds across time and space, usually for purposes of study). The Yith either wiped his memory or the experience was too traumatic that caused the initial amnesia. As an additional note, the physical form of the Yith is actually not their original, simply what species they had taken over in force (supposedly not all can house their minds for prolonged periods of time).
***Call of Cthulhu -- Dark Corners of the Earth is a first-person horror game that combines intense action and adventure elements. You will draw upon your skills in exploration, investigation, and combat while faced with the seemingly impossible task of battling evil incarnate.

Other than fighting, you have the ability to interact freely with characters and the gaming environment. To increase the sense of immersion, there is no interface or 'HUD' on screen at any time during normal gameplay. Instead, more intuitive methods are available for you to assess your condition, ammunition levels, and other relevant information. The combat within the game is extremely realistic, with a detailed damage and healing system that breaks down the healing process into conditions and treatments - rather than having the typical FPS 'health packs' lying around everywhere.

The game also allows you to stamp your own style onto the proceedings via an advanced AI system that can react to your method of play. Cthulhu enemies can roam freely around the environment - opening doors and tracking you down single-handedly or in groups. To stay alive you won't just be able to outshoot them, you'll need to outthink them as well.

You will have to keep your mental health in check as you are exposed to the increasingly shocking images of the Cthulhu Mythos. You will need to combat enemies using the environment, powerful and evil artifacts, Alien technology, or by fighting with weapons that are completely authentic for the period.

Set during the 1920s, Call of Cthulhu is based on the Cthulhu Mythos of HP Lovecraft, an American writer of fantasy and horror. Lovecraft's stories tell of unthinkable evil, psychic possession, and mythical worlds and his work has profoundly influenced numerous fantasy and science fiction writers, including Stephen King and Anne Rice.

The technology powering Call of Cthulhu has provided Headfirst with the means to present an incredibly detailed and accurate depiction of the sights and sounds of this unique 1920's New England setting. A diverse range of cutting edge special effects is utilized to ensure both unprecedented levels of realism and an exact portrayal of your mental degredation.

Key Features:
* Diverse array of levels from quaint towns to alien locations, including Deep One City
* Dynamic Sanity system resulting in hallucinations, panic attacks, vertigo, paranoia, and more!
* Incredibly detailed real-time graphics with atmospheric lighting and dynamic shadows
* Intelligent gameplay involving puzzle solving as well as combat and exploration
* 1920s weaponry and vehicles as well as evil artifacts and alien technology
* Lovecraft's famous monsters and locations
