Abuse  Origin;Red Hat (Crack dot Com)1995This game brought new innovations from the 3D shooter back to 2D games. Such as aiming with the mouse while moving with the keyboard. Originally the game was for MS-DOS and Linux. Origin (was sold to Electronic Arts by then) was the original publisher.
[Zerothis]***You are Nick Vrenna. It is the year 2009. You have been
falsely incarcerated inside a high security underground
prison where illegal genetic experiments are taking place.

Alan Blake, the head research scientist, has isolated the
specific gene which causes violence and aggression in
humans. This genetic sequence, called 'Abuse', is highly
infectious, causing horrific transformations and grotesque
side-effects. You are the only person to show immunity to it

A prison riot erupts, and in the confusion all the cell
doors ar opened. Soon everyone, guards and convicts
alike, become infected and transform into a horde of
mutants which take over the building.

Your only chance for escape is to don battle armor and
reach the Control Room situated in the structure's deepest
level. You must first stop the prison's Abuse-infected
water supply from contaminating the outside world. Freedom
and the fate of the world now depend on you.

Akumajō Dracula  Konami1986This is the first Castlevania game ever and it was perhaps the best-looking game for the Famicom/Famicom Disk System so far with great and varied background graphics and sprites. Music is also very good and memorable. Konami really understood early on how to program high quality games for that console. Playability is also quite good but there are a few issues. Most prominent one the fact that when you are hit by a monster you are pushed back quite a bit, which very often results in falling down platforms and to your death. In this Famicom Disk System version you can save your game's progress on disk, making it a bit easier than the US NES version, which was released several months later in 1987.***The Japanese title means 'Demon Castle Dracula'.

Alone in the Dark  Infogrames;Interplay (I-Motion Interactive)1992***A suspicious suicide. A chilling curse. A malevolent power. And a wicked dark secret. This is Derceto, legendary Louisiana mansion - where, against your better judgement, you're drawn into a world of shadows to explore the darker side of Jeremy Hartwood's imagination.

Despite a paralyzing sense of personal danger, your quest for truth drives you to investigate the old house. But, you didn't know that by entering Derceto, you'd be plunged into the daily nightmare that was Jeremy Hartwood's life. You weren't prepared for the torturous howls that resound from deep within its halls. You didn't foresee the shadowy corridors that seemingly have no end. You couldn't anticipate the brooding, gloom-filled rooms, the pervasive weight of dread, the heavy sense of evil that fills the atmosphere and the ver house itself.

Had you known, you might have refused your task. But alas, you accepted, and now you must make your way through this spine-tingling adventure alone ... and in the dark.

BioForge Origin Systems;Electronic Arts (Origin Systems)1995In the far future, a fanatical group of religious extremists known as the Mondites have begun a campaign of galactic conquest. They believe in the evolution of man through machine by cybernetic implants. You are one of the unlucky victims: a prisoner in a Mondite complex on a distant moon, with no memory of your former life. Your body has been turned into a hideous cybernetic nightmare by the evil Dr. Mastaba. It is up to you to explore the complex (abandoned and on the verge of nuclear meltdown), discover the secrets of the Mondites and the mysterious remnants of alien civilization they've discovered, and get out alive from this moon.

BioForge is an action game with puzzle-solving, technologically similar to Alone in the Dark, featuring polygonal (and textured) characters over pre-rendered backgrounds. The adventure elements involve the hero collecting items and figuring out puzzles in order to get to new places and discover the secrets of the complex. The action elements involve combat against foes robotic and alive, both with melee weaponry and with guns, though some enemies require trickery rather than force to defeat.

Numerous journals, documents and diaries are found throughout the game; these are all recorded and can be re-read at any time.***
[22]***The ending gave me the impression of future sequels, but since there's been none, the project must've been canned (if there even ever were plans for them).

Blood Bowl  Cyanide2009Blood Bowl is the video game adaptation of Games Workshop's famous board game of the same name.

A brutal team sport unfolding in a parallel fantasy world based on Warhammer and American football, Blood Bowl invites gamers to form a team of players from such races as: Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many other fantasy creatures, and launch themselves into battle in the bloodiest of arenas. This strategy sports game combines a fine balance of tactics and bone crunching action!

The game offers two game modes. The first, which is fully real time, offers a spectacular gameplay. Intense battles between blocking linemen and daring displays of agility of players leaping and dodging through opponents tackle zones, while powerful spells and dirty trick special plays are unleashed across the pitch; all this creates a highly charged atmosphere. Of course, since it is sometimes difficult to keep an eye on the entire field at once, the game's interface offers different tactical and strategic setups, while the AI is responsible for managing the players on the field.

The second game mode, an actual turn-based game, is a treat for players of the original board game because it is an exact replica of Games Workshop's tabletop masterpiece. The original rules have been faithfully reproduced, and it contains all of the devices, strategies, play and rhythm of the original game.

The single-player experience allows the player to manage a team throughout an entire season of Blood Bowl, through the Old World of Warhammer. The team will evolve over the course of victories, experience gained and awards won. With its immense depth, the game can almost be considered as a management game, from managing the popularity and sponsorship of players to the purchase and sale of players, as well as their aging, retirement and even death.

In multiplayer, the player will be able to throw down a challenge to other Blood Bowl players and participate in large tournaments on the Internet in order to climb the official ranks.

Castlevania  Konami;Novotrade (Novotrade)1990Within this box your fate may be sealed.

Beyond the twisted iron gates of Castlevania there lurks an unearthly terror who stalks the night in search of revenge... and blood.

With darkness and fear slowly engulfing the town, village elders are calling on you, Simon Belmont - the one hero with the power to forever entomb that death defying demon - Count Dracula.

To survive you'll need the strength to wield weapons like the whip, dagger, hatchet and fire bomb. You'll also need a ferocious intellect to find the option that renders you invisible and the clock that suspends time, both of which are hidden in a maze of cobwebs and torture chambers.

But before you sharpen your stake, know that behind these purgatory walls are dungeons, tombs and haunted hallways filled with hundreds of creatures who have escaped from the grave. These gothic horrors include the Ax Man, the Skele-Dragon, the Mummy Man, the She Worm and that cursed "dead-head" - the Grim Reaper.

At every turn these occult obstacles will become more vicious. And, as you step deeper and deeper into the darkness, their point values will slowly pale in comparison to the value you'll place on staying alive.

So grab your cross of gold and prepare to confront the blood thirsty Count in a deadly adventure that will surely leave you drained.
