Alan Wake Remedy Entertainment2012Muy buena atmósfera, con una elaborada historia y un sistema de combate innovador aunque algo repetitivo. Es un survival horror peculiar.

Como jugar a un libro de Stephen King.

8 de 10***When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

Enhanced for the PC
* Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes "The Signal" and "The Writer"
* Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than the Xbox360 version.

Alan Wake  Microsoft Game Studios (Remedy Entertainment)2010Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller, a unique new take in the world of gaming. The game is set in an idyllic all-American small town and its surroundings in the state of Washington. Alan Wake, the game's protagonist, is a bestselling horror writer, who writes a novel about his darkest nightmares. In the game, those nightmares come true. As with Remedy's previous games, story and atmosphere are fundamental elements. The game features a massive, open world for the players to explore. The game design is mission based with the player as the driving force behing the action, and as with their previous games, Remedy again focuses completely on delivering the best possible single player experience. The use of light is a significant gameplay element. Remedy has developed proprietary new technology to support the gameplay of the title and to push the high definition visuals to the next level. Alien Shooter - Revisited Sigma Team2009Un mata-mata ordinario, cuyo únicos factores reseñables son la habilidad que tiene la historia de meterte en apuros y la cantidad de zonas secretas que tiene el juego.

Mediocre.

3 de 10***Effectively the same game as the original Alien Shooter, but with improved graphics (on par with Alien Shooter 2, no longer the garish and brightly colored what it once was), and with some other improvements from the sequel brought back to the old, namely weapon reloading and flashlight upgrade. The levels have been stretched a bit to give more free space to move in without appearing strange. The general shape of the levels is identical, enemies are also nearly identical to the old with largest changes to their ranged attacks. The standard pistol has been replaced with an uzi that is much more useful, although is only useful against green enemies (color coding is identical to the original). Also, if you lose all your lives, you no longer have to replay the whole game to retry, but start of the mission (you can freely replay already finished missions in similar manner).

Mediocre.

4 de 10***Alien Shooter 2 - Conscription is the continuation of cult Alien Shooter 2, which is a unique blend of two game genres - Action and RPG.

The Great War has begun! The world population capable of functioning is mobilized to serve in the army. Hordes of monsters are destroying the cities and capturing new territories. The situation on the battlefront reached the critical emergency point and there's nobody to help. Try to fight with the aliens as a private soldier from the regular army, which happens to be in the center of the action. The outcome depends on you!

Key features
* Huge crowds of enemies, more than 100 aliens on one map at a time.
* Ability to upgrade the main character's parameters.
* More than 60 weapon types, including sniper rifles.
* Lots of auxiliary devices, including radar and battle drones.
* Several types of vehicles to drive.
* Three game types: Campaign, Survive, Gun Stand.

Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded Sigma Team2009Notable differences with the original are missing voice overs, the lack of separate weapon skills - you no longer need certain level on a weapon skill to use more powerful weapons - and the damage modifier has been merged with accuracy skill (formerly this was purely accuracy, now it's universal weapon skill, offering both increased accuracy and some damage improvements). This simplifies your weapon choices to economic issues. Implants no longer have intelligence requirement and you can only have one implant in use at any time, effectively making intelligence almost pointless (formerly lack of intelligence restricted more powerful implants from your use and you could have 3 implants total in use). Armor skill has been removed completely, allowing anyone to wear any armor they want. And then there's the additional missions (missions 8 and 9, a small town). And net ranking.***Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded is a modified version of the Alien Shooter 2 game. We started working on it right after release of AS2, taking into account the players' wishes. Well, here's the list of what we've done:
1. Size of the full version installation file was reduced to 300 Mb, compared to 1Gb of the original Alien Shooter 2. Large installation file prevented users with slow connection from buying and downloading the game.
2. Player upgrade parameters simplified. Now you don't need to develop separate skills for each weapon type, so you'll be able to complete the game using all the weapon types featured in it.
3. Two new missions added. Now the game features 17 full levels.
4. New individual shooting mode added - Gun Stand. You will use powerful military equipment to eliminate advancing enemy troops. As the game goes on, you will upgrade your weapon in different ways, and the right choice will let you win the battle!

Strategy First published the game on 2007-10-18***For the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomena as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the pressure from public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their outlooks, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause.

By 2100, the world was more or less at peace, with continued discord in some regions as modernized military forces sought to track down and destroy the remaining terrorist cells that continued to fight and harass civilian and military alike. Regardless, as this war began to wane, it slowly moved out of the public's eye, and they began to pick up the pieces and try to make better lives for themselves. Not since the years following World War II had such prosperity been felt across the planet; even war-ravaged regions received a "Marshall Plan" of sorts, having their infrastructures built up far beyond what they ever were before.

As prosperity grew, so too did the ventures of capitalism. In this day and age, science was the 'new capitalism,' fueling the growth of amazing new technologies. The first high-profile ventures into the creation of a viable fusion energy source, an offshoot of the efforts of the aging multinational oil companies, began in 2105 in the United States, with the backing of billions of dollars in venture and government capital. The International Power Initiative of 2112, an agreement among nations investing in the fusion power project, but eventually including many hundreds of other projects based on energy, radically restructured how science was to approach new energy sources. The level of freedom granted to a group of corporations might have been dangerous one hundred years ago, but it was felt that today since there was not a rivalry in the race to find the secrets of fusion power first, that giving a corporation autonomy to do what it needed to do would foster creativity and growth on an unheard-of scale.

It didn't.

Assassin's Creed II  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2009Players 'relive' the life of an assassin during the Italian Renaissance in this open-world action adventure game. The goal is to exact revenge upon conspirators who have framed and executed loved ones; the goal is to be accomplished through assassination. As players roam the crowded streets of Florence, Italy, they can creep through catacombs and corridors, undertake diverse side-missions, and tail-and-assassinate all manner of human targets—politicians, Templar soldiers, conspirators. Players can also brawl with family rivals or engage in sword fights with Templar soldiers, but in most cases, they use stealth techniques to complete the mission; for example, players can sneak up on enemies from behind and kill them with hidden daggers, poisoned daggers, spring-activated blades, and swords. When blades connect, blood shoots out in a fountain-like manner as targets groan or scream. These stealth-kills are sometimes depicted close-up and are somewhat graphic: the camera follows the 'herky-jerky' thrusts of the blade; the player hears a distinctly 'wet' flesh-impact sound. The most graphic depictions of violence occur during cinematic cutscenes (the following two scenes do not involve players' character): A businessman, crawling away from a Templar leader, gets pinned to the ground by a sword through his neck; a young nobleman is ambushed by rivals, begs for mercy, then gets stabbed multiple times in the chest amid screams of 'Muori! Mouri! Mouri!' [Die! Die! Die!]. The spurts and sprays of blood that accompany some of the stabbing attacks can be intense.

The game contains strong sexual overtones. During one 'seduction mini-game,' players are able to press buttons to kiss a woman and remove her dress; with the woman's back facing the camera, the two characters lower to bed and blow out a candle. Some scenes take place inside brothels, though no nudity or sexual acts are depicted. The dialogue contains the following sexual references: 'So the whip or the paddle today?' and 'Does your wife know about your page-boy fantasies, Captain?' Character backstories, narrated through still-frame vignettes, explain how villains and historical figures achieved their notoriety; some biographies include references to adultery, sodomy, prostitution, and rape (e.g., 'Caterina was captured and sent to Rodrigo Borgia . . . who kept her imprisoned for a year and is rumored to have raped her alongside his son.'). One cutscene depicts a man and a woman wearing translucent, flesh-toned bodysuits as they flee from danger. The digitized lighting effects, the glow from their futuristic suits, obscure most of the details, though outlines of breasts and buttocks are partially discernable (i.e., not definitively nudity). Consumers may also wish to know that the game contains strong profanity, both in English and Italian (e.g., 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' c*zzo,' and 'm*rda'); the most explicit instance occurs when a man frantically describes a 'vision'—'I'm at the opera . . . the soprano is so beautiful . . . I'm in bed with her, she cries as I f**k her.'

BioShock 2K Games (2K Boston;2K Australia)2007Una ambientación y estética únicas en una especie ciudad sumergida art decó, que presenta una acción directa con el doble uso de armas y plásmidos y una historia que baila entre la nostalgia y lo grotesco.

2007-08-24 on Steam***Both the full game and the demo use SecuROM 7.x copy protection. SecuROM is used to enforce CD-in-drive, enforce an online activation, to damage the data on the CD to try to prevent coping it, and was for a much hated "installation limit" that prevented more than 3 install attempts. The geniuses at 2k game didn't want people installing the product on multiple PCs simultaneously and figured that limiting attempts would do the trick. Ingoring the fact that the CD-in-drive restriction already prevents multiple installations from running simultaneously. In reality, it caused the game to be uninstallable if the install process was abandon 3 times (due to errors, or failed requirements such as HD space, or just someone changing their mind). It also forbid reinstallation in cases of a crashed PC or transfer to new computer or in cases of system restore. Any finally, it was possible to successfully install 3 copies on 3 PCs simultaneously, this restriction failed in its purpose! After much complaint, 2k games announced, "Good news! As promised, all activation restrictions, including install limits, have been removed from BioShock PC as of today. You don't have to patch or install anything for this to go into effect for your copy of BioShock – it's already done! " This is NOT and announcement of removal of SecuROM! 2kgames later said "Our other methods of copy protection remain. You will still have to activate your copy, and you will still need to keep the disc in the drive. SecuROM has not been removed" So the cpremoved tag does not yet apply.
[Zerothis]***
No encounter ever plays out the same way twice. No two gamers will ever play BioShock the same way.
This is because the game has quite rapid respawn rate (enough rapid to be irritating and making the game into forced slugfest), causing encounters to happen even if not wanted and the creatures wander around aimlessly through the levels with apparently nothing to do. They sometimes huddle over corpses as if there was something interesting there, but there really isn't (I had scavenged all valuables from those corpses long ago).

Though I have to admit that I did play it on the hardest difficulty, so maybe that's (the rapid respawn) the only way they could think of how to make it more difficult. Didn't have much chance for stealth or alternative approaches when the guys were running everywhere.

Although it was advertized that munitions were supposedly scarce, I never really ran out of them, actually I was almost constantly maxed, except in the particular weapon I had taken a liking of and after fighting swarms and swarms of suddenly script-spawning enemies or after fighting a Big Daddy (they really can take a beating).

The only ways this game is better than Quake 4, Doom 3 or the like is that it's more free roaming (though there's very little use for it), has conversations and some sort of plot twists as well as the light RPG-ness in form of weapon and plasmid upgrades.

The number of choices of approach are quite limited actually, either you shoot them or you.. well.. shoot them. Sneaking past them is usually impossible, or simply just ridiculously difficult opposed to just shooting them and the game has too many scripted sequences where you have to shoot them regardless of how you wanted to do it.

The reliance on scripted sequences for variance is too old, but gives stronger story (scripted sequences are required to have a story, but the use of them outside it is not very good). Some of the things that happened were also very retro FPS-like, for example the one case where I picked up a new gun and swarms of new Mobs were spawned so I could "test it out".

Sad little game in that regard, but can be fun if you ignore all that.

On the confrontation with Ryan, I heard a rather poor explanation for it once (if I remember it correctly, they simply assumed Ryan was raving mad). My own interpretation of it, however, is different.
Ryan first demonstrates the protagonist's dilemma, he's been "programmed" to follow orders of others, with key words activating certain behaviour and in this case, simple "please" would force the protagonist to do as was asked. Protagonist ridiculously follows Ryan's brief orders ("turn around", "run", etc.) followed by "please", until finally Ryan gives him a golf club and tells the protagonist to "kill" (please), while the protagonist is beating him to death, Ryan solemnly repeats a motto: "Man chooses, slave obeys." which he had said earlier (IIRC). This is where some might think Ryan is insane, however, to me he seems idealistic or something that the protagonist is not a slave as he was made to be (which he also demonstrated with his earlier commands), but a free man, able to choose his own actions. Unfortunately, the protagonist is unable to break through the "programming" (mind control) and finally kills Ryan.
***BioShock is a shooter unlike any you've ever played, loaded with weapons and tactics never seen. You'll have a complete arsenal at your disposal from simple revolvers to grenade launchers and chemical throwers, but you'll also be forced to genetically modify your DNA to create an even more deadly weapon: you. Injectable plasmids give you super human powers: blast electrical currents into water to electrocute multiple enemies, or freeze them solid and obliterate them with the swing of a wrench.

No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way.

* Biologically modify your body: send fire storming from your fingertips and unleash a swarm of killer hornets hatched from the veins in your arms.

* Turn his own Security System Against Him
* Light Him on Fire and Launch Heat Seeking Missiles At him
* Torment Him with Plagues of Insects

[2K Games]***In the middle of the north Atlantic, a lighthouse juts out of the water. Inside waits a rusted bathysphere, which takes you deep under the ocean to Rapture, a city sprawling along the sea floor.

A man named Andrew Ryan, a former Soviet citizen, built the city in 1946, and the society was envisioned as the ultimate capitalistic and individualist paradise, with the elite achieving for themselves, rather than for the whole. Protected by a network of giant sea walls and consisting of a cluster of enormous skyscraper-shaped hive towers, Rapture was designed to be entirely self-supporting, with all of its electricity, food production, water purification and defense systems powered by volcanic vents at the bottom of the ocean.

At one point Rapture's population numbered several thousand at its peak during the early 1960s, composed of those people Ryan viewed as the best examples of mankind. A large and tiered economy grew among the people, with different quality products catering to different levels of the society.

The grand Art Deco architecture is at once futuristic and archaic, but as you step into Rapture, you find the city a shell of itself. The walls are crumbling and the ocean is seeping in. The hallways are littered with corpses, those who were once the best and brightest of the world above are now mutated and mad, roaming the corridors and waiting to ambush you at every turn.

Dark Souls  Namco Bandai (From Software)2012Drift bags and vagrants are one of the most obscure mechanics of the game. Drift bags are dropped items that are randomly transported to another player's world where they can be picked up, if they aren't picked up they get transported again. Once the drift bag has been transported enough many times, it turns into a vagrant, a rare enemy that spawns in no other way. Vagrants if undefeated will be transported to other players' worlds much like the drift bags.***The game's story is about the waning Age of Fire which the player can help continue or end, the waning of the age also is the cause of the undead curse when Gwyn kindled the First Flame with his essence. Letting the Age of Fire end would bring about Age of Dark (a.k.a. Age of Humanity), but considering how Dark Souls (a.k.a. human souls) are prone to bad things and generally the world's bleak presentation of humans, this would probably be about as bad thing as the previous age or worse.

How bad humans and Dark Souls are or can be is especially shown in Artorias of the Abyss expansion (which is included in the Windows port of the game), though the information gained there can be somewhat misleading. The Abyss appeared because the pygmy went insane, not because it was natural thing to happen with Dark Souls, and the Abyss corrupted Artorias and the Oolacile. Many players seem to assume this is the natural progression for what happens with Dark Souls unfortunately.***With a moody and almost grimterror atmosphere and lore that would make even H.P.Lovecraft shiver a little, a simple but very customizable character development and a gameplay that is hard and "unfair", bringing back the "trial and error" progress system of classical arcade games, this game is simply a jewel of RPG-action goodness.

Sadly, this version is a poorly done port from the console version, almost forcing to be played by handheld control (keyboard + mouse is horribly designed and also missing keybinding for some actions), and the camera feels clunky, slow and very dependant of player panning/autolock.

8 of 10***Dark Souls is an upcoming action role-playing game from the developers who brought you Demon’s Souls, FromSoftware. Dark Souls will have many familiar features: A dark fantasy universe, tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and unique online interactions. Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to Demon’s, not a sequel. Prepare for a new, despair-inducing world, with a vast, fully-explorable horizon and vertically-oriented landforms. Prepare for a new, mysterious story, centered around the King’s Crowns and the original, now dying flame at the center of the world. But most of all, prepare to die. You will face countless murderous traps, countless darkly grotesque monsters and several gargantuan, supremely powerful demons and dragons. You must learn from death to persist through this unforgiving world. And you aren’t alone. Dark Souls allows the spirits of other players to show up in your world, so you can learn from their deaths and they can learn from yours. New to Dark Souls is Beacon Fire, where you can share the experiences of your adventure with the spirits of other players. Around the Beacon Fire, you may find the only warmth and calm that exists in this dark world. Beware: There is no place in Dark Souls that is truly safe. With days of game play and an even more punishing difficulty level, Dark Souls will be the most deeply challenging game you play this year. Can you live through a million deaths and earn your legacy?
