Champion Pro Wrestling Sega1985 MSXlabelimageminimize
Champion Pro Wrestling  Sega1985A simplistic wrestling game similar to the earlier Tag Team Wrestling, albeit not quite as much fun. Play as the hero team, consisting of parodies of Antonio Inoki and Hulk Hogan, against the masked heel team. Although characters are much larger than in Tag Team and can jump, duck, and attack without grappling first, they are limited to only moving forward and backwards, which is extremely restrictive. Control is a bit sluggish, as well.

Exciting Hour  Taito;Technos1985This game is superb and unlike a lot of other wrestling games released, it has a great control method which in a way is better than Wrestlefest's.

You are a guy who is challenging a few blokes to get to the ultimate accolade in wrestling - the World Championship Belt. The guys you come up against are your typical O.T.T. (over-the-top) WWF-style characters, who dress up in silly costumes. You are trained in many wrestling maneuvers such as the piledriver and suplex, through to basic moves like a flying kick. You can even get up on the top rope and pummel your oppenent with the "Flying Butt Crush" attack. Between each bout your are presented by a short low-down of your oppenent, by some announcer who thinks he is recruiting folks for the army.

What makes this stand out amongst all the other "official" wrestling games is the ease of pulling off these moves. For example, a piledriver is UP + KICK, whereas a suplex is UP + PUNCH. This might not sound like a major feature to the game, but how often in Wrestlefest have you shouted at your character, "Don't do a bloody throw, DDT the bitch!"? I bet it's a lot.
