1st Quest Revamp  author2002Collect useful items guarded by secret puzzles and enemies to gain access to 8 dungeons with more useful items guarded by bosses to gain access to the last dungeon to defeat Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda.

This is a remake of the original Legend of Zelda. The graphic overhaul is immediately apparent but there are a few other subtle changes. Most changes make the game not necessarily easier, just a bit less frustrating. Save or Continue, and Link's hearts remain unchanged or filled to three if they were below that. Boss fireballs not deflectable and Stone Statue fireballs deflectable looked identical in the original, now players can see the difference. Dungeon rooms are rarely so square as they were. Blocks are often replaced by walls where appropriate. And rooms that used to be a pattern of blocks are not a more organically shaped area with various obstacles to maneuver around. The new room shapes and smoothed out terrain means there are less places that look like bombable walls, so bombable walls are easier to find. Most notable it the changes in dungeon layout, where are not so much changing the rooms as it is replacing the room-to-room tunnels with a simple stairway (instant arrival at the other end). New pathways have been added. And dead ends and pointless treks into obscure corners of the dungeons are virtually eliminated by adding something useful or even necessary to them. A good example of this is in the first dungeon. In the original, Link can go left and get a key by defeating enemies. Or, Link can go right and get a key by defeating enemies. Or, both, if the player choses not to or does not knows where bomb to avoid using keys. In this remake, Link can only go left. When enemies are defeated, the staircase must be opened and this leads to the right room where the enemies must be defeated to open the exit back to the entry room. Another trick is make dead-end paths useful by having pots in the rooms. This way, players can now grind for hearts and money on a path that was just a waste of time in the original. Also there's more completely optional secrets to discover. Certain room based puzzles in the dungeons have completely new solutions. Player will find themselves using items in ways they are used in other Zelda games and in unique ways. These are usually easy and nearly intuitive. Along the lines of encountering something new in a room in a dungeon on the way to the boss; using the item collected in the same dungeon in a on the new thing to solve the puzzle. These are not just an added step, these teach the player. These new tricks learned in the dungeon can be used elsewhere to find a whole new set of secrets that have been added to the game. Also, use old tricks in new places to find the some of new secrets. This aptly named 1st quest is but only the 1st, no 2nd quest follows on defeating Ganon (to the best of my knowledge).

8 Eyes  Seta;Taxan (Thinking Rabbit)1988After hundreds of years of chaos, mankind has finally emerged from the ruins of nuclear war. This world of the distant future has once again flourished under the guidance of the Great King, who harnessed the power of the 8 Eyes to rebuild the planet. These strange jewels of power were formed at the eyes, or center, of the eight nuclear explosions which nearly destroyed the Earth. In the wrong hands, the 8 Eyes could cause untold destruction... And now, they have been seized by the Great King's eight Dukes, in a desperate bid to gain control of the world for themselves. They have banished the King to the nuclear wastelands, and already their squabbling threatens to plunge the world into war once again! The task of retrieving the 8 Eyes falls to you, Orin the Falconer, the bravest and mightiest of the King's Guardsmen. With your fighting falcon, Cutrus, you must penetrate each of the 8 Dukes' castles. There you will face the Dukes' soldiers, and battle strange nuclear mutants such as living skeletons, giant wasps, and mud men. You must defeat the monstrous Boss of each castle to retrieve the Jewel of Power he guards. Then, to complete your quest, return the 8 Eyes to the Altar of Peace to await the return of the Great King, so that he may finish the rebuilding of Earth. Your reward will be the eternal gratitude of all mankind!***

10 de 10***Bears some superficial resemblance to metroidvanias, but isn't one of them.***A 2D sidescroller without a linear path. An action game with tactical combat and strategic planning. An adventure game that lets you free-roam a vast, procedurally-generated world. A Valley Without Wind defies genre stereotypes. Unlike other procedurally-generated games, you also get a logical progression in difficulty, plus helpful tips and checklists to guide your travels (should you need them).

Choose for yourself how to prepare to face the vastly stronger Overlord. Complete a variety of missions to earn arcane rewards, or roam the wilds to uncover secret missions and stashes of magical loot. Customize your characters with unique combinations of enchants and spells that change how you move, jump, and fight. Or rescue people and bring them back to your settlement, recruiting them to help you in return.

You choose how to play, and the world adapts around you.

Key features:
* Travel alone or with friends across an ever-expanding world of dangerous creatures, powerful magic, high technology, and mysteries.
* You have choice. The world of Environ is procedurally generated, and lets you go anywhere you see -- including right into the overlord's keep at any time. (Good luck with that.)
* Environ is endless. When you save one continent from an overlord, a larger and more complex continent appears.
* The game adapts to how you play: as you demonstrate your proficiency, monsters upgrade accordingly. Killed 100 bats? Okay, time for... bats on fire!
* Crazy amounts of character customization. Combine a multitude of spells, enchants, and equipment to create specialized character builds.
* Play as a long line of brave adventurers. It's not a question of IF your character is going to die, but WHEN. Any character that dies is permanently lost, but you keep all your inventory, enchants, and general progress in the game.
* Become a community leader. Rescue NPCs, have them join your settlement, and construct buildings for them -- they may return the favor and help you.
* Be a clever problem-solver. Challenges have more than one solution, each with its own pros and cons. You get to figure things out rather than just jumping through a set of hoops.
* Difficulty levels give exactly the challenge you want, from casual to hardcore on both platforming and combat independently.
* New updates are arriving all the time packed with additional content, improvements, and more.

Abyss Odyssey ATLUS (ACE Team)2014A rogue-lite fighting-platformer game with a very peculiar and oniric setting.

Pros:
-The game is raw fluid art, from the music and atmosphere to the peculiar looks (who seem like and assembly of Bosch paintings, chilean mythology, architecture from the Renaissance and S.XIX colorful portraits)
-Enemy AI is challenging, making each enemy a notable hurdle in your journey.
-A fighting system who lends heavily from Smash Bros. series and adds some other elements (as parries)
-A reset-over gameplay, pointing to the importance of surviving over a foolhardy approach.
-Soul-capture: you can play as your enemies.
-Journal pages: a simple and powerful way of delivering a backstory drop by drop.

Cons:
-Camera zooms are not adequate from time to time.
-The control feels very clunky, making fighting and platforming frustrating. Sadly, this is a MAJOR issue for enjoying the game.

Adventure  Atari;Polyvox (Atari)1980An evil magician has stolen the Enchanted Chalice and has hidden it somewhere in the Kingdom. The object of the game is to rescue the Enchanted Chalice and place it inside the Golden Castle where it belongs.

This is no easy task, as the Evil Magician has created three Dragons to hinder you in your quest for the Golden Chalice. There is Yorgie, the Yellow Dragon, who is just plain mean; there is Grundle, the Green Dragon, who is mean and ferocious; and there is Rhindle, the Red Dragon, who is the most ferocious of all. Rhindle is also the fastest Dragon and is the most difficult to outmaneuver.

There are three castles in the Kingdom; the White Castle, the Black Castle, and the Golden Castle. Each castle has a Gate over the entrance. The Gate can be opened with the corresponding colored Key. Inside each Castle are rooms(or dungeons, depending at which Skill Level you are playing).

The Castles are separated by rooms, pathways, and labyrinths. Common to all the Skill Levels is the Blue Labyrinth through which you must find your way to the Black Castle. Skill Levels 2 and 3 have a more complicated Kingdom.***About the release date:

Could be 1979 or 1980. According to the game developer, Warren Robinett:
I am pretty sure the Adventure cartridge was released during the 1979 Christmas season. But I was in Europe during that time. People were definitely playing Adventure in early 1980 [...] Anyway, the Adventure cart was definitely out in the world by June 1980, and had been out there for a while. My belief is that it was released during the 1979 Christmas season, but I did not actually see an Adventure cart in a retail store prior to Jan. 1, 1980. So I guess I don't truly know for sure.
***
[48]***Adventure was released in North America by Atari, CX2613, picture and text labels rarity 2 Common+, NTSC. Sears 49-75154, picture label rarity 4 Scarce+, text label rarity 3 Scarce, NTSC. Released in South America by Polyvox, NTSC.

This game was inspired by another game called [game=Colossal Cave Adventure]Colossal Cave Adventure[/game] (later known as Colossal Cave) by Will Crowther and Don Woods. Adventure was hundreds of kilobytes in size and ran on a room-sized mainframe; Mr. Robinett's Adventure fit in 2k and ran on a VCS, which is smaller than a VCR.

Mr. Robinett developed this game against his boss' instructions (who said it was too big).
Find the hidden dot that removes a wall and enter a secret room where the words 'Created by Warren Robinett' are spelled out.
Mr. Robinett also did this without permission and it was discovered after he'd left employment with Atari. At the time, programmers at Atari were not given credit, could not discuss their work in public, had no official creative input, were not allowed to collect royalties and were being paid less then some of their own secretaries.

In a development version of the game, there was a roadrunner character that just ran around.

Late in the development of this game, Mr. Robinett was told by marketing to change the game to 'Superman' to ride the hype of the Superman movie that was released in 1978. John Dunn came to the rescue and volunteered to do the [game=#99763]Superman[/game] game.

[game=Rocky's Boots]Rocky's Boots[/game] was the followup to this game and uses a later version of the adventure engine (ADV# engine).

Aigīna no Yogen: Balubalouk no Densetsu Yori  Vic Tokai1986Aigiina no Yogen is a strange platform game. Between the different levels/dungeons you walk around on an overworld. Once in a dungeon the perspective changes to side-view and you have to kill a certain amount of enemies until a ladder appears to the next room and so on. Monsters are killed by activating stationary weapons which appear when you jump against blocks with your head. The game is really frustrating. The controls are a big issue. You can make normal and high jumps. But high jumps fail so often because of the unresponsive controls it ruins everything. And if the game wouldn't be hard enough because of that, the developers had you find five star fragments throughout the dungeons, which are in very secretly hidden rooms. And why they made the overworld so frustrating as well I don't know. Here you also have to walk on exact spots to trigger events like earthquakes which open up the way again. NESlabelimageminimize

Alien Shooter - Revisited Sigma Team2009Un mata-mata ordinario, cuyo únicos factores reseñables son la habilidad que tiene la historia de meterte en apuros y la cantidad de zonas secretas que tiene el juego.

Mediocre.

3 de 10***Effectively the same game as the original Alien Shooter, but with improved graphics (on par with Alien Shooter 2, no longer the garish and brightly colored what it once was), and with some other improvements from the sequel brought back to the old, namely weapon reloading and flashlight upgrade. The levels have been stretched a bit to give more free space to move in without appearing strange. The general shape of the levels is identical, enemies are also nearly identical to the old with largest changes to their ranged attacks. The standard pistol has been replaced with an uzi that is much more useful, although is only useful against green enemies (color coding is identical to the original). Also, if you lose all your lives, you no longer have to replay the whole game to retry, but start of the mission (you can freely replay already finished missions in similar manner).

Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded Sigma Team2009Notable differences with the original are missing voice overs, the lack of separate weapon skills - you no longer need certain level on a weapon skill to use more powerful weapons - and the damage modifier has been merged with accuracy skill (formerly this was purely accuracy, now it's universal weapon skill, offering both increased accuracy and some damage improvements). This simplifies your weapon choices to economic issues. Implants no longer have intelligence requirement and you can only have one implant in use at any time, effectively making intelligence almost pointless (formerly lack of intelligence restricted more powerful implants from your use and you could have 3 implants total in use). Armor skill has been removed completely, allowing anyone to wear any armor they want. And then there's the additional missions (missions 8 and 9, a small town). And net ranking.***Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded is a modified version of the Alien Shooter 2 game. We started working on it right after release of AS2, taking into account the players' wishes. Well, here's the list of what we've done:
1. Size of the full version installation file was reduced to 300 Mb, compared to 1Gb of the original Alien Shooter 2. Large installation file prevented users with slow connection from buying and downloading the game.
2. Player upgrade parameters simplified. Now you don't need to develop separate skills for each weapon type, so you'll be able to complete the game using all the weapon types featured in it.
3. Two new missions added. Now the game features 17 full levels.
4. New individual shooting mode added - Gun Stand. You will use powerful military equipment to eliminate advancing enemy troops. As the game goes on, you will upgrade your weapon in different ways, and the right choice will let you win the battle!

Strategy First published the game on 2007-10-18***For the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomena as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the pressure from public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their outlooks, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause.

By 2100, the world was more or less at peace, with continued discord in some regions as modernized military forces sought to track down and destroy the remaining terrorist cells that continued to fight and harass civilian and military alike. Regardless, as this war began to wane, it slowly moved out of the public's eye, and they began to pick up the pieces and try to make better lives for themselves. Not since the years following World War II had such prosperity been felt across the planet; even war-ravaged regions received a "Marshall Plan" of sorts, having their infrastructures built up far beyond what they ever were before.

As prosperity grew, so too did the ventures of capitalism. In this day and age, science was the 'new capitalism,' fueling the growth of amazing new technologies. The first high-profile ventures into the creation of a viable fusion energy source, an offshoot of the efforts of the aging multinational oil companies, began in 2105 in the United States, with the backing of billions of dollars in venture and government capital. The International Power Initiative of 2112, an agreement among nations investing in the fusion power project, but eventually including many hundreds of other projects based on energy, radically restructured how science was to approach new energy sources. The level of freedom granted to a group of corporations might have been dangerous one hundred years ago, but it was felt that today since there was not a rivalry in the race to find the secrets of fusion power first, that giving a corporation autonomy to do what it needed to do would foster creativity and growth on an unheard-of scale.

It didn't.

cloaking - unlike in the previous games, the predator can remain cloaked indefinitely as long as they avoid certain actions. this causes no energy drain of any kind. And the cloak can be immediately resumed when the cloak breaking action is ceased.***Aliens vs Predator is an entirely new title for PC and high-definition consoles from acclaimed British developer Rebellion, the team behind the 1999 original PC gaming classic.

Bringing the most intense war between two of science-fiction’s most popular characters FPS fans, AvP delivers three outstanding single player campaigns and provides untold hours of unique 3-way multiplayer gaming.

Experience distinctly new and thrilling first person gameplay as you survive, hunt and prey in the deadly jungles and swamps surrounding the damned colony of Freya’s Prospect.

- As the Marine, you’ll experience a claustrophobic and terrifying experience where light is your friend, but there’s never enough. However, the United States Marine Corps are humanity’s last line of defence, and as such they are armed to the teeth with the very latest in high explosive and automatic weaponry.
- As the Predator, you will stalk from the shadows and from above, passing athletically through the treetops to ambush your victims. Although equipped with an array of powerful, exotic weapons and tracking equipment, honour ultimately dictates that you must get in close and take your trophies face to face.
- As the most deadly species in the universe, the Alien offers you the chance to play as the very stuff of nightmares - the monster in the dark swarming forward with countless others, jaws like a steel trap and claws like blades.
- Play all sides off against each other in a series of unique 3-way online modes and go tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in the reinvention of one of multiplayer gaming’s defining moments.

Arx Fatalis  JoWood Productions (Arkane Studios)2002Cast away from the surface of the Earth by the disappearance of the sun, Mankind lived hidden underground in the Fortress of Arx. Humans only have magic left to survive against Ratmen, Dragons and starvation...

But a much greater danger is hovering above the world of Arx Fatalis. Lurking in the eternal darkness of the mines, it feeds off the innocent souls of the city. It is not a monster. It is not human. It is pure evil.

The adventure has just started, and soon,
the fate of Arx, will be in your hands.

Arx Fatalis is a medieval heroic fantasy first person role playing game which places the accent on immersion, storyline and innovative magic system.

Arx Fatalis is intended for RPG and adventure players.

Dive into the universe of Arx

Arx Fatalis is an RPG that thrusts the player into an extremely complex fantastic world. Arx Fatalis combines a rich storyline with impressive medieval settings. The easy to use interface results in maximum interaction. The player is in an intense immersion state where he can feel how each one of his actions affects the surrounding world. The goal of the game is to reduce to nothing the cult of Akbaa, God of destruction and Chaos, and thus, prevent him from returning to the physical world. If the player fails, the demon will crush Arx under its rule of blood and terror.

The player, assuming the role of potential hero, fights in a large underground fortress, with wood clubs, swords, lances. and many magic artifacts, against the threat of multiple underground creatures (Goblins, Trolls, Ratmen and other vicious creatures.)

But rough power is not always the best road to victory. The hero may also use the new "screen magic" to advance. By using the mouse, magic runes have to be drawn and combined on screen in order to create powerful spells that will protect the player or give him the strength to defeat his enemies and to complete his quest.

In addition to the fight against demons and monsters, there is also a practically infinite number of interactions with the creatures and objects in the fortress, which enable the player to regain his memory, solve enigmas, and fulfill quests. By accumulating experience points, the player is able to lead his hero and train him any way he wants.

Dare to enter the world of Arx Fatalis. Explore the underground cities, secret temples, ancient mine tunnels, discover forgotten civilizations and dominate the magic of Arx Fatalis...***The game may suffer from severe flickering and depth buffer issues under some circumstances. The actual cause is unknown as it fixed itself and I failed to reproduce it.

Bumb mapping used by the game is one of the earliest methods and causes some graphical glitching on at least NV's GPUs (buttons and doorways otherwise revealed by sufficiently high intuition are colored almost pitch black). Therefore it is recommended you disable it.

Forcing anti-aliasing causes some text to disappear, the game itself has no anti-aliasing options so this is only reminder not to do it in externally.***Minimum:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2013The year is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic where corruption, greediness and cruelty are commonplace.

Among these outlaws is a brash young captain named Edward Kenway. His fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built.

[100]***Before I started playing this game I read that this is considered to be one of the weaker NES games out there. At first I was pleasantly surprised, considering that this game looks much better than the (quite bad looking) C64 version that I already knew (and didn't like). And the first level wasn't bad at all. But the game gets worse with each level. The difficulty level is much too high. Even with walkthrough and cheats I had to curse this game numerous times. Controls are bad and there is much much sprite flickering. When being hit, you get thrown back too far. With the wrong weapon choice you suddenly are stuck in places where it is necessary to break walls and backtracking is not possible, or bosses become unbeatable. Important items are too well hidden and suddenly you find yourself at the beginning of a level and ask yourself what you have done wrong and what item you might have missed.
