Space Harrier Sega1985"Welcome to the Fantasy Zone. Get ready!" This is the greeting given to you as you start Space Harrier, but you don't have much time to take this advice. Even as the words are being spoken, your Harrier warrior is already charging into battle. Toting a huge laser gun under his arm, the Space Harrier can either run along the checkerboard ground or freely fly through the sky. Either way, he's always heading forward into the hostile 3-D world. As you progress, hordes of strange creatures and robots fly toward you. Fast reflexes are required to dodge their incoming fire. Environmental hazards can be a problem, too. Take care not to run into any trees or stone structures. If you need a bit of a morale boost, just defeat a boss, and the narrator will remind you that "you're doing great!"***Space Harrier was introduced to the arcades in 1985. The game uses scaling features that can also be found in Outrun, Afterburner, and Afterburner II. It's a great game overall, featuring a fantastic soundtrack and intense speed. Can you finish it on one credit? Arcadelabelimagesubject

[47]***They released two versions of this game for the 16-bit homecomputers. The second one (1990) featured all levels from the Arcade original, while the first one (1988) left some levels out. But except the number of levels they are identical.
I don't know exactly if this was also called Space Harrier: Extra !?

[49]***Space Harrier was originally released in the arcade in the 1980s, developed by AM2, which also developed OutRun and Afterburner. Space Harrier is widely recognizable by many arcade fans due to its distinctive, colorful art design and its fast-paced action. The SEGA Master System version is considered a solid port of the arcade game, containing 18 levels of intense fun. As the "Space Harrier," you must fight your way through "The Land of Dragons" and defeat the bosses at the end of each level to restore peace to the land. Are you prepared? Get ready!

[49]***"Space Harrier 3-D" is a kind of semi-sequel to the original Space Harrier and makes use of Sega's 3D glasses to create a 3D effect. Gameplay has not changed, but the levels and enemies are different from the first Space Harrier. Sounds good so far, but actually it is not, because the switch to 3D seems to be bought with serious slow speed of everything. The game has an abysmal low framerate, rendering it on the brink of being unplayable. Gone is the impressive and fast quasi-3D movement of the landscape and objects. Very disappointing.***

[37]***One of the first MegaDrive/Genesis games. It's very similar to the original 'Space Harrier'. No new elements, only some new enemies and bosses. Rather unoriginal if you ask me. It's playable and the graphics are fast enough though.***Fantasyland has been taken over by destructive forces, and a call for help comes from deep in the universe. Space Harrier is quick on the scene, armed with his laser, to defeat wave after wave of destructive forces through 12 thrilling stages, with a dangerous boss waiting at the end of each round.
