Final Doom id Software (TeamTNT)1996Two New, 32-Level DOOM II Episodes.

Evilution:

Far from earth, the UAC recommenced their experiments on on of the moons of Jupiter. A spaceship, mistaken for a supply vexxel on radar, hovered above the base. Hideous demons poured out, blanketing the base with death. All your comrades were quickly slaughtered or zombified. This time, it's not about survival. It's about revenge.

The Plutonia Experiment:

Every effort has been made by the nation's top scientists to close the seven interdimensional Gates of Hell, but one portal remains open. Alone, you must infiltrate the ravaged complex, defeat the demon Gatekeeper and seal the last Hell-hole before the undead are prepared to, once again, take over the world.
[?]***Includes two "campaigns":
* TNT: Evilution, with the events set on Io.
* Plutonia Experiment, with the events set on Earth.

Oddly it seems neither of the storylines take the player to Hell unlike in all other Doom games.

Nemesis: The Wizardry Adventure  Virgin Interactive (Sir-tech Software)1996Players control as an seemingly unremarkable peasant who was minding his own business when
the society of Nitherin Mages
sent a fowl beast in an attempted kidnapping. A good wizard completely deck-out for battle just happened to be watching over the peasant while standing in a tiny boat in a nearby water (hmmm), and foiled the kidnapping. The High Council knows of the group responsible but not the reason, nor why they have such a specific target. The unremarkable present is charged to investigate and stop them.

Individual item skill is gained by using said item. Spells can be learned. For battle, commands are selected and the player then clicked on the target. There is a great deal of talking to be done to complete the investigation. There are many puzzle to be solved. All done with the mouse or keyboard shortcuts.

Conceived as a complex real-time adventure game with dialog and combat but with contrastingly simplified interface that is still "more than click-click-click". It does not take place in the same Universe as the main Wizardry series and gameplay has nothing in common with the main Wizardry series (even critics who loved the game gave it poor ratings for calling it "Wizardry").***

Tomb Raider  Eidos Interactive (Core Design)1996
Gold edition has two extra levels: 'The Shadow of the Cat' and 'Unfinished Business'.
***DOS version package prominently advertises that it runs under windows95 and it does. But it is a native DOS game with a native DOS installer.***Lara Croft is employed by Jacqueline Natla ,to find an artifact rumored to be
hidden in a temple in Peru. When she finds it she realizes that it is one of the 3 parts of a more important artifact, the Scion, which is the key to activating the Great Pyramid of Atlantis. She also discovers though, that Natla, her employer is not what she seemed to be.
She was one of the 3 rulers of Atlantis and she had one of the 3 pieces of the artifact. The other two belonged to Tihocan and Qualopeg. However, she abused its powers, creating a race of monsters which destroyed Atlantis. The other 2 rulers froze her into what they thought would be an eternal prison. She, however, managed to escape and now wants to create mutated species again. Lara has to stop her, but that's quite difficult, because she is both powerful and intelligent.
Lara now needs to find all the three pieces of Scion, race against Natla's henchmen and then go to Atlantis for the final battle.

Not true in newer Windows systems though.***An unusual change from the previous X-COM games which were darker and more tied to popular sci-fi fads. Although the gameplay is good and somewhat unusual, its greatest weakness is its outlook. Everything is in cheery candy wrapped colours with odd plastic shine to them, giving the game an unreal feel and makes it difficult to immerse oneself into the gameworld and feel like we really are being invaded by aliens from another dimension while some strange alien worshipping cult tries to sabotage your operations. This is not the only reason, but it just feels like it lacks a great deal to make itself stand out, especially now that the game is located on one huge megapolis rather than the whole world, so you'd expect the game to also have more detail on that accord but no, there isn't. Despite this, the game is enjoyable for some odd reason, but could've been much better.
