Spec Ops: The Line lo logra de manera magistral gracias a la sensación de abandono y a lo humanos que expone a los enemigos, lejos del típico "yo bueno, tu malo" tan común en los shooter en general.
Además, en terminos de juego no tiene nada que envidiar a sus compañeros de género, con un buen arsenal y la añadidura de la física de la arena y sus múltiples efectos (hasta corriendo se nota). incluye también elementos muy propios de los juegos de Tom Clancy en el aspecto de enviar órdenes, aunque de manera muy simplificada.
