Achron Hazardous Software2011Achron takes place in Remnant System, where humanity discovered teleportation technology from alien ruins. Humans had never encountered another intelligent alien race, until aliens suddenly attacked outer colonies and came into the Remnant System. After the massive human fleet was decimated, the alien forces inexplicably became disorganized before finishing their conquest. Humanity is on the brink of discovering time travel from alien technology. As one of the survivors and humankind's first "Achronal" being, you must piece together what happened and unravel the mysteries surrounding the alien invasion.

* Players can freely move about the timeline to change strategies, preempt opponents' strategies, and don't need to perform the "clickfest" that RTS games tend to be
* Players can send units back or forward in time and attack an opponent's factory and undo the opponent's creation of part of their army
* The game engine handles all sorts of time travel situations from literature, including the grandfather paradox. Achron has even been used by philosophy professors from top-tier universities to experiment with their ideas about time travel.
* Achron's time manipulation can change the way you think about the world, in a positive way.

* 512 MB VRAM******"Alien Dominion: The Acronian Encounter" is an a 3d space shooter game for the PC/Windows platform intended to be downloaded from various game portals. The player is in a role of a gunner/shooter of a ship escaping an alien invasion in order to warn the rest of humanity of the incoming attack. It’s basically a rail shooter, so the player does not control the ship only defends it.

There are 2 gun groups attached to the ship: upper and lower. As the player drags the mouse the cannon groups are switched to cover all the space around the ship. Each level has it’s story, but basically you need to take down all/most of the targets that are attacking and thus to survive.

The levels last for 10 minutes each and are finished once the player reaches that time point – and is alive. The last level lasts a bit longer (15 minutes). The game contains 6 levels.

After the level completion there is a shop with various utilities and armaments. Eg. better guns, shields, time-warp (slowdown), gun enhancements etc. Money(crystals) is gained by destroying alien ships – the better shooter you are more crystals for use in the shop.

Are you up to the challenge space warrior?

Game Features:
* Fastest and most intense 3d space shooter game you have ever seen – feel free to compare it to other games!
* The ship is driven by the pilot, and you defend with 2 turrets (upper and lower) covering all the space around the vessel (this is a 3d "rail" shooter game)
* Unique feel of intense battle and adrenalin pumping trough your veins
* 6 blood pounding missions with great heavy metal tracks while shooting down the invading force, with an option of muting the music if you rather prefer silence or playing some custom tunes on your favorite player in the background
* Hours and hours of fun play before you successfully survive the last world and inform humanity about the Acronians – rewarded by a neat animation at the end
* Over one hour of constant action needed to finish the game (if you survive all the levels in a row, that is...)
* 4 levels of difficulty (Rookie, Normal, Ace and Abnormal)
* Incredible environments and planets (you can’t land, that’s a decoration only, but very detailed I should add). Indie or casual games ususally do not have that.
* Flexible graphics settings to meet your hardware – indie or casual games usually do not have this – you can check the features and minimal/recommended specifications here
* 3d explosions with debris falling of everything you shoot at, plus beautiful particle effects
* Shop available at the end of each level: weapon, add-ons, shields, utilities, repair-bots... everything to make you happy.
* Intro and game complete cut-scenes
* Listen to in game chat of pilot, gunner and the ship’s AI to find out what happened meanwhile...

Aliens versus Predator  Fox Interactive (Rebellion)1999Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000 features the Colonial Marine, Alien and Predator Campaigns and the frenetic single-player Skirmish mode from the original title: Alien Versus Predator Gold Edition, which was released to massive acclaim in 2000.

Alien Versus Predator Classic 2000 has been updated to run on modern PCs and laptops using DirectX 9.0c and includes support for Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, however, it does not currently support multi-player.

The three most ferocious species in the universe in a bloodthirsty battle for the ultimate prize: survival. Take your pick: be a Colonial Marine, a Predator or an Alien. Fight through suspense-filled environments: from starships and space stations to colonial bases and eerie planetscapes. One wrong move turns you from hunter to prey.

* Three campaigns: Colonial Marine, Alien and Predator
* Includes all the levels from the original AvP Gold Edition plus the Millennium Expansion Pack
* Skirmish mode against infinite Alien hordes
* Bonus Episodes
* Unique abilities, weapons and equipment for each species
* Scale walls and elevator shafts as an ALIEN with frightening speed as you attack and devour your victims
* Stalk your prey as the deadly PREDATOR using wrist blades, shoulder cannons and stealth mode
* Lock and load as a COLONIAL MARINE using motion trackers, grenade launchers and flame-throwers to exterminate your foes
* Supports Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
* Music from the original soundtrack CD
[Fox Interactive?]***healing magic - Predator heals himself by expending his energy reserves and stabbing himself with the healing stabby things, can be repeated whenever the player feels like it and there's sufficient energy reserves left.
health draining - xenomorph's healing method vaguely belongs to this: by "eating" the heads of humans and predators, live victims give more health.
hypermobile foes - xenomorphs when playing against them.

steam - only for AvP Classic***Lack of out-of-place music, impressive (at the time) ambient noises, slick darkness, the gritty and terrifying world and xenomorphs of the Alien franchise with the somewhat monstrous but oddly honorable cloaked hunters from Predator movies, AVP sets an experience that is action-packed and laden with horror. Stalk humans and predators alike as a lone xenomorph drone. Run in the darkness as a lone marine, hunted by both the swarming xenomorphs and the stealthy predators. Or stalk as a predator, nailing down humans one at a time and fighting the hordes of xenomorphs. Regardless of whom you play as, the feeling of anxiety, exhilaration and fear you felt with the original Alien movie and the sequel are pretty much there.

The game actually feels almost Lovecraftian, but instead of psychological horror, the game gives you a relentless horde of aliens with nary a sufficient arsenal to counter them. Besides the foreboding darkness and the lonesomeness each character makes you feel, each character's gameplay is different in their own way.

The xenomorph drone outmaneuvers and stalks individual targets from the dark while avoiding most direct confrontations as he is quite fragile but can rend almost anything they come in close enough to pieces in less than a second. Marine has it tough as the neverending swam of xenomorph drones forces them to progress onward, not giving him time for a breather, making even his impressively varied arsenal seem pitiful and even a single predator on his path can make things a lot more difficult. For predator, picking out humans while cloaked may seem simple, they rarely offer much of a challenge except in large numbers. The aliens however see through the predator's cloak and come swarming in on him like a nest of bees, making many of his more powerful weapons useless in close quarters. All three provide unique challenges and experience.

It's amazing how AVP didn't become more popular than it is, it's a solid package of great gameplay with decent story, however it was unfortunately released shortly after Half-Life which was hyped by the press and many others even though it offered less in a sense, contributing to AVP's lower popularity. AVP was perhaps too hectic and not everyone is fan of horror and dark places where you feel insignificant and can't see your enemy properly. Instead of making you feel like a hero like HL did, AVP makes you feel like you survived.

(Sorry for the ad-like speech at the start, but I couldn't think of anything better.)***Seems like people have trouble running the game with anything newer than XP SP2, meaning anyone with XP SP3 or newer (like my XP64) are unlikely to get the game to work.

Though the game is practically playable even on XP64, as long as you don't linger in the main menu for long and skip the cinematics as the game otherwise crashes in a minute or so.***Comes on 2 CDs.***Gold Edition includes the "Millenium Expansion Pack". I couldn't find info if this was available for separate download for owners of regular AVP, but my memory says it was. There's 9 new multiplayer levels and few singleplayer levels for the marine. There's 2 new weapons, pistol and "skeeter", for the marine. Other weapons, mostly the explosive kind, were made more powerful, too. Gold Edition multiplayer is incompatible with the original AVP. There's different title screen and apparently some voice overs were replaced by Rebellion staff.

The new AvP Classic is essentially the Gold Edition.***Minimum:

Despite its superb exploitation of human terror, however, it failed in terms of gameplay to match the top FPSs of the time (Half-Life had been released just five months before). But with three games in one, one for each race (Alien, Predator, Human [Marine]), few could be disappointed by AvP.***Official description:

Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Has been received extremely poorly, here's few things that go over why:
* http://www.destructoid.com/so-who-the-hell-did-make-aliens-colonial-marines--244939.phtml
* http://www.destructoid.com/gearbox-lied-about-aliens-from-e3-demo-to-retail-product-244966.phtml
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lGXDM3LGnk***For any Aliens fans, this game will be horribly disappointing. Despite the gratuitous fanservice from including LV-426, Hadley's Hope, Sulaco, the Derelict and its dead Jockey pilot, Hicks, and various other things from the movies, this game utterly fails to deliver on the atmosphere of the films. Alien acidic blood is only a minor annoyance, player can trivially fight the aliens in melee, the aliens themselves seem incredibly lazy, the way player can carry ~10 different weapons with separate ammo for each, extremely linear locations, and whatever else make this feel unsatisfying when you come to it expecting a proper Aliens game. The license seems almost wasted on it considering how much they deviate from what fans of the franchise would expect. If they had made this a game with no ties to Aliens franchise it would've probably been half-decent, but as it is, it fails to be what it is supposed to be. The graphics are the main point where this actually is quite good at, though for PC game they're kinda low fidelity, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a game that's published on the usual platform trio (X360/PS3/PC).

To summarize: fans of the Alien franchise, keep away. People who don't care for the franchise on the other hand, this can work as a mediocre tube shooter.

[Box blurb]***Chaser is a first person shooter, built on the high-end 3D engine (CloakNT), in which main character passes through real environments and uses real weapons.

Mars, 2044. The UN establishes MARSCORP (Martian Security and Economics Committee) under the leadership of Samuel Longwood. In the years that follow, the UN gradually loses control of MARSCORP, mainly due to the non-transparent licence policy of its director.

LongwoodSamuel Longwood uses his autonomous status to create vassal relations between the corporations and MARSCORP. The unshakable power position of MARSCORP is supported by the companies and thus they acquire additional rights and licenses. Samuel Longwood and his consortium become extremely wealthy from this arrangement. However, dissenting voices in MARSCORP begin to challenge Samuel Longwood's authoritarian policy.
They demand the dismissal of Samuel Longwood as director and a complete redistribution of the mining rights.

But Samuel Longwood keeps an ace up his sleeve for occasions like this...

John Chaser

Chaser awakens on board the spaceship H.M.S. Majestic. He doesn't know who he is, what he's doing here, why he is being sought by men in black uniforms and what they will do to him when they find him...

The player's goal is to find out who Chaser really is and why he is being hunted. The story leads the player from the H.M.S. Majestic to Montack City on Earth, then on to Siberia and finally to Mars, where the trail ends and hopefully the truth can be found.

Features

* Based on Cauldron's CloakNT engine. Boasts state of the art graphical features and is perfectly suited for rendering large environments.
* Authentic weapons: Nearly all the weapons in the game are modelled on real-life equivalents. The developers placed a great deal of emphasis on building detailed replicas.

* Highly developed A.I.
* Multiplayer support via GameSpy as well as dedicated servers.
* Numerous multiplayer modes including teamplay modes in the style of Counter-Strike and Team Fortress as well as deathmatch and capture the flag.

DarkSpace Palestar;Got Game Entertainment (Palestar)2001DarkSpace is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game set in the time of space travel and interstellar warfare. The universe has become a tumultuous place in the future of political infighting, economic sanctions and diplomatic posturing. All of the factions have high hostility towards one another with a few outposts staying neutral, at least initially, to determine their best interest.

Players start out as an ensign in the midst of a human civil war intensified by reports of an alien species aggressively spreading its domain throughout the known universe. Beginning with small crafts, you work your way up the ranks toward the ultimate goal of Grand Admiral, capable of commanding capital ships and planning the core strategics of your faction.

In this online universe, hundreds of players come together to forge alliances in a pulse-pounding struggle for mankind's destiny. Mission goals will vary from pilot to pilot and completed objectives will bring favor to that faction's existence in the galaxy. The fate of the galaxy relies on your coordination with your team. In such an unpredictable universe, objectives will be obtained and rival borders will be pushed back only with teamwork on a massive scale.

Players will need to choose their ships wisely, as each ship type fulfills its own versatile and vital role within the faction. A scout will reveal enemy positions as it lifts the fog of war, while combat-equipped heavy cruisers tear into the enemy forces with relentless speed and force. Planetary invasions are carried out with high-capacity infantry transports, and subsequent security is insured by engineering ships that rebuild and stabilize the planet's buildings.

With all of its influential forces acting as one, the universe of DarkSpace continues to evolve. In the opening moments of gameplay, the dominant factions are human with a mysterious and advanced alien species silently closing in from the galactic rim. In the meantime, neutral and radical bodies with agendas of their own will force players to deal with the circumstances they create within their own borders.
Features:

* Featuring 3D accelerated graphics using PaleStar's proprietary Medusa engine!
* Command over 18 unique spacecraft and installations from the three warring factions!
* Dynamic stereo rendered environmental sound, ranging from the crackling hum of alien particle beams splitting 5-kilometer capital ships in half to the frantic radio distress calls from allied ships on the verge of destruction!

* Real time particle systems showing ship damage, torpedo impacts, nebulas and various other gorgeous effects will startle the senses!

[Ascaron]***"Darkstar One" is a game that is primarily story-based and therefore pre-defined; however, "Darkstar One" also offers a fantastic amount of freedom of choice for the players.

The story-based missions gradually lead the player deeper into the galaxy to new races, new technologies and ever stronger opponents. More and more solar systems will become available and may be visited. The artifacts of an ancient race, which are hidden in these solar systems, are essential to upgrade the player ship - the Darkstar One.

Additionally, our hero urgently requires credits in order to purchase better equipment such as weapons and shields. This is where the freedom of choice is applied as the player will be able to earn credits in many different ways: assignments, bounty hunting, piracy, smuggling, trading, escorting, transport, rewards ...

Key Features
* Elaborate story, related by more than fifty minutes of video sequences
* Upgradeable space ship "Darkstar One": The player decides which type of spacecraft he prefers - a fast attack ship with many light weapons or a near-invincible cruiser with heavy weaponry
* Over two hundred different weapons, shields and equipment items
* Rockets, torpedoes and mines feature special tactical uses: mines can tactically fire at opponents or distract approaching missiles
* The "Spell Weapon": the player will have a special weapon at his disposal that will have an area of effect similar to certain spells in role-playing games. This weapon will become increasingly versatile throughout the game and it will increase the tactical potential considerably.
* A vast, simulated universe with numerous, completely different races, space ships and battle tactics.
* Each race features distinctive weapon types with different functions that require different battle tactics. The player will be able to acquire these weapons in order to mount them on the "Darkstar One".
* Special missions, for example in canyons, on the surface of planets or inside of planets
* Freedom of choice: the player may earn his credits in many ways, i.e. fighting, piracy, assignments, smuggling, trading, escorting, transporting, rewards ...
* Follow your own path, be it "good" or "bad", and take advantage of political disputes.
* Compatible with mouse, joystick and gamepad.

[Relic]***[[youtube:nodA5bxueyo]]***Stand-alone expansion to [game=#162150]Dawn of War[/game] and [game=#162151]Winter Assault[/game], but having DoW or WA unlocks the races that were introduced in them, otherwise the player is limited to play only as Necron and Tau which are the new races in this expansion. The computer plays with all the rest regardless of this unlocking.

The expansion took a different approach and instead of giving new campaigns to complete, the player was given a [game=Risk]Risk[/game]-style overworld which to conquer as the player sees fit and unique albeit short storyline for each of the races.

Dawn of War – Soulstorm  THQ (Iron Lore Entertainment)20083rd and last expansion of Dawn of War.

Pros:
-Two new factions, both with an unique resource for special abilities, for a whooping 9 factions in total. Newcomers are Sisters of Battle, tanks with poweful healing abilities and moral protection, and Dark Eldars, powerful but fragile units and unmatched in movility and speed of contruction.
-A lot of maps to play.

Cons:
-Sometimes commanders' abilites override normal units' abilities (or viceversa), making very confusing and difficult to use them in combat.

[Relic]***This is very similar to what Dark Crusade was, except instead of single planet with large number of provinces to be conquered, you have multiple planets and only few provinces each. Each race also starts with an unique special power, like the Tau planetary cannon.

Like with Dark Crusade, you need the previous games to play as one of the other races than Dark Eldar or Sisters of Battle. You only need the CD-keys for this, no need for installing the games.***Minimum:
