FAR Colony  ??
*Do you consider other platforms ?
No. Some time ago, maybe more than one year, I talked about a "possible" native Linux port, but I have already too much job to do with this version only, and no more spare time.
Jesus in Space Wisdom Tree (Sunday Software)? How would you explaining baptism to aliens that live underwater? Or explain them them the camel hair that John the Baptist wore? Is there a way to explain the Last Supper and the Passover meal to artificial beings (robots) that do not consume food? And how does one share Jesus with sentient balls of ice?
In this game, the player struggles to translate essential sections of God's Word into forms of communication that newly discovered races from elsewhere in the universe can understand. Be it words, actions, or other, how do you?

Master of Dimensions  Eidos Interactive (Mad Engine)1996The sorcerer Merlin is not only involved in mystical but also in physical things and journeys to other dimensions. One bad day he met the wizard of the fairyland. Since the two didn't particularly like each other, it finally came to a conflict ending with the fragmentation of Merlin's magic wand. The single parts were hidden in different dimensions - and Merlin's power was lost. A millennium later a boy coincidentally finds a dimension machine on the attic of his Grandpa: The hunt for the parts of the magic wand can begin.

Master of Dimension (German title: The Fifth Dimension) is an adventure, using different elements of the genre: beside the classic point'n'click, movie passages (in the private eye dimension) à la Snatcher are offered, while switching to big screens is a style borrowed from French or Japanese productions. The latter takes place when important conversations are lead or viewing special items. Gamers realize in a "dramatic" way that this is the point players have to turn your attention to.***

StarCraft  Blizzard Entertainment1998In the distant future, the newly formed Terran Dominion faces the arrival of two hostile alien races: the savage Zerg and the enigmatic Protoss. Gather resources and expand your forces to lead them to victory. The only allies are enemies. The only choice is war.***For 1-8 players, with teams or in FFA. Cross-platform play with Mac.***Latest version: 1.16 (as of 2008-11-27)***An incredible RTS that requires both brains and speed. Not trackball- or trackpad-friendly. Though the graphics are rather primitive by today's standards, that's only because this game is relatively old.

It features three different playable races, each of which requires different strategies for maximum effectiveness. Play as the versatile Terran colonists, the voracious Zerg xenomorphs, or the enigmatic, psionically gifted Protoss (my personal favorite).

The game also includes a map editing program for the unique SCM and SCX map format, enabling a patient user to craft new maps and scenarios. Some of the features take some getting used to, but FAQs are available at [[link:http://www.blizzard.com/starcraft]].

The screenshot at right is from the first mission in the expansion, StarCraft: Brood War.

Outwars Microsoft (SingleTrac)1998hang glider - not literally, the power armor at some point become fitted with foldable wings which are used like hang glider except for the fact that you also have the power armor's standard jetpack for additional propulsion.***DESCRIPTION

As a Dreadnaut soldier, you will lead a team of space troopers against an alien insect force in a planet by planet battle to save the universe.

You are the best we have. You are one mean space marine. Succeed in your mission objectives and we all survive. Fail...and you condemn us all.

FEATURES

Arsenal of Weapons - Arm your space troopers with a variety of lethal weaponry including heat-seeking swarm missiles, flechette cannons, plasma rifles, grenade launchers, and proximity mines before each level.

3D Interactive Audio - Outwars features a fully interactive soundtrack and sound system. All noises are rendered in 3D and are a major part of the gameplay -- enemy shrieks get louder and more alarming as you near them (even if they are behind a wall!), waterfall noises become louder, and ship noises go through Doppler warping as they scream past you in the full heat of battle.

Additionally, the music itself is interactive and sets the tone for each mission. Singletrac has combined a rich redbook audio soundtrack with streaming interactive music that changes based on the game changes. You're searching: it's tense, suspended. You're fighting: it's a wild pounding battle song that will get your heart rate going and keep your fingers hitting those triggers faster, faster, faster.

Rocket-Pack Dynamics - You'll experience dizzying heights and enormous depths while piloting a jet-pack armed with lethal firepower to take on the exo-skeleton adversaries.

Large, diverse environments - Outwars includes a wide variety of diverse environments including a lush tropical planet, a desert mining colony, a forbidding ice planet and a planet sized hive. Additionally, the gameplay environments in Outwars are expansive; thus, your not just confined to the oppressive environments seen in most run-n-guns. This opens up the gameplay possibilities and makes the game less predicable.

Multiple modes of motion - Players can choose from different method of motions including running, gliding and jet packing across vast environments.

Unique gameplay strategy - You will face a variety of strategy options in Outwars, such as: Is there enough fuel to make it out of the deep, underground cavern? Would it be better to rush the alien insect force with the whole team, or send someone around to outflank them? Are the your adversaries running away because they were afraid or are they preparing an ambush?

Mission-based levels - Outwars offers sophisticated objectives for each mission that vary from stealth under-cover work to frenetic combat action to team-assisted cooperative and research missions. This is not a standard "shoot everything and find the exit" game.

Aggressive Adversaries - Deal with adversaries that will actively pursue you across vast landscapes and employ a variety of attacks in order to destroy you.

Engaging Storyline - As you achieve your missions, you learn about the aliens that you are battling and their devious plans as your teammates work feverishly to help you foil them. Failure has one consequence: DOOM.

Personalized characters - Character options allow you to choose to play as a man or a woman and outfit your teammates before third-person gameplay.

Varied Multi-Player Play - OutWars supports modem, LAN and Internet play (via the Internet Gaming Zone) and includes cooperative, capture-the-flag, and death-match modes of play.

Technology Support - MMX technology and Direct 3D acceleration are included for immersive play.

1999 Unreal Gold - re-release that bundled Return to Na Pali.
2000-09-22 - re-release by Infogrames
2001 another re-release by Infogrames***Although Unreal was great back in the days it first came out, it hasn't fared well against the ravages of time. It's difficult to get running on modern Windows operating systems (with hardware 3D acceleration, software rendering works fine) and when you do, it's a terrible realization that it doesn't look as great as you remember. Something 3D games are perhaps only now managing to accomplish (if even now), a level of detail that can survive for ages like 2D graphics reached long ago.

The difficulty setting is a bit curious as it adjusts the dodge-firing ratio, so the easiest difficulty may actually be the hardest since the enemies dodge a _lot_, while at hardest they practically just stand there and shoot at you a never ending stream of bullets/rockets/whatever. So, if you're poor shot, go for harder difficulties, if you're poor dodger, go for easy. The normal difficulty and those near it balance it out so it may be harder or easier depending on your skill and playstyle.***Great FP-Shooter, network-playing, Missiondisc available

8 de 10***They're back...only this time the heinous aliens are out to destroy Earth and rule the new frontier. As X-COM commander, it's your sole duty to protect humanity and the prized mining operations in outer space. You must strategically equip your X-COM fighters, amass a formidable arsenal and then fulfill your mandate by going head-to-head with the devious element. The action is fast. And the opposing forces are wicked. But if you are smart, diligent and quick, you will prevail in a masterfully fought campaign to save our planet from perilous collapse.

Features:

* Wreak complete destruction in an addictive and seamless combination of combat action and strategy.
* Mastermind your plan by purchasing equipment, hiring pilots and researching new technologies.
* Pilot your own X-COM attack ship in a face-to-face 3D real-time first person environment.
