Tropico 5 Kalypso Media Digital (Haemimont Games)2014Return to the remote island nation of Tropico in the next installment of the critically acclaimed and hugely popular ‘dictator sim’ series. Expand your Dynasty’s reign from the early colonial period to beyond the 21st Century, facing an all-new set of challenges, including advanced trading mechanics, technology and scientific research, exploration and for the first time in Tropico history – cooperative and competitive MULTIPLAYER for up to 4 players.
[Steam Store]***Another instalment of the banana republic simulator, is very fun economic/politic game, with the incredible feature of playing from colonial to contemporary times (it even includes many clever and sardonic historic/4th wall jokes) The music is very well made, and its gameplay premises easy to catch yet very difficult to master.
The task system is simple, very similar to a social game (do X building, export X material...), as opposite as decissions (very well written and with a big impact in your economy/diplomatic relations). This binary task/decissions systems makes progress engaging (even I dare to say addictive)

Sadly, I have to stress 2 things that makes it not as fun as it should be.
-1st: micromanagement is excessive and not user friendly (interesting and very effective at first, but almost impossible to control when you have more buildings, making you pause time more than it should) It will be a great improvement to let you make upgrades/budget changes/hire managers and workers/etc... from the buildings list (going one by one is time costly and tiresome)
-2nd: the information tab (almanac) is limited and not well designed to give clear and fast information, so it is difficult to know the what to do next by looking at it. An advisor system (similar to SimCity series) could be a great solution.

6 of 10, would banish political rival again.
