Groups comparison

Space (Deep space) - 1970 to 2024
All or part of the story takes place in (deep) space. Either as is, on some form of a vessel, or artificial structure (such as a space station).

Large spacecraft [starship;spaceship] - 1971 to 2017
Player controls a large spacecraft, usually with personnel complement from dozens to thousands.

Space flight - 1971 to 2021
All or part of the flying is done in deep space, outside the gravitational effects of planetary bodies.

Space station - 1971 to 2023
A significant portion of the game's events are situated on a space station.

Spacecraft (Starship;Spaceship) - 1971 to 2024
Player is in control of any kind of spacecraft.

Warp travel (Warping;Hyperspace;FTL travel;Superluminal travel) - 1974 to 2024
Includes any method of travel that breaks known laws of physics by usually exceeding the speed of light or using alternate dimension - such as hyperspace, subspace, etc. - to achieve effects similar to it. Excluding outright teleportation.

Dark space - 1977 to 2019
Outer space is realistically depicted as dark/black place instead of the usual colorful juice spill.

Small spacecraft [starship;spaceship] - 1979 to 2022
Player is in control of a small and presumably fast spacecraft mainly for 1-2 people though it may have extra passenger or storage space.

Astrophysics (Newtonian physics) - 1980 to 2024
Simulates astrophysics to some degree.

Space friction - 1987 to 2017
Spacecraft are required to be in constant acceleration to maintain speed.

Spacelanes (Wormholes;Warp conduits;Hyperspace gate networks) - 1990 to 2021
Either natural (e.g. wormholes, subspace conduits, etc.) or artificial (e.g. jump gate network) lanes between major stellar phenomena, commonly star systems, employed to accomplish FTL travel.

Medium spacecraft [starship;spaceship] - 1992 to 2024
Player controls a medium sized spacecraft with a dozen or so personnel.

Flat space (Two-dimensional space) - 2000 to 2017
Space, despite its lack of any limitations on movement and positioning, is depicted as a flat expanse of nothing.

Silent void (Silent space) - 2008 to 2013
No sound is transmitted across the vacuum of space.
