Note that this tag name is actually incorrect, but Aesop's Fables are perhaps best known set of stories that each contain a teaching, while still not restricting us to the definitions of fable or parable (there seems to be no common term for them).

Also, the lesson does not need to be clearly laid out, for there can be lessons that are meant to provoke thought rather than give straight out answers.
