Colombia Pictures produced a 15 chapter serial title, The Batman in 1943.
This series shown in theaters introduced elements that would become standards of the franchise. First was The Bat Cave (in the form of, "The Bat's Cave"), that was entered from a secret entrance in a grandfather clock in Wayne Manor. Also, the actor portraying Alfred was slim and had a mustache; this became the character's standard depiction.
