For example, if player performs better and gains 25% more upgrade points than on previous best attempt, they'll have those extra upgrade points to use when they continue later level. Such as player having reached chapter 7 and decides it's getting too difficulty, so they go back to chapter 3 where their performance and upgrade point gain was inferior, they redo the level and gain few more upgrade points due to better performance. And then continue again with chapter 7 with those few extra upgrade points. But, say player gained 3 out of 10 upgrade points on first try, on the second try they gained 5 out of 10 upgrade points, they have only 2 extra upgrade points to use in chapter 7 instead of all 5 they collected again (only 2 of them are new).
