Runs on 68LC040 CPUs specifically. A low cost version of the 68040 lacking an FPU (Floating-Point Unit).
The first video game about 68LC040 CPU was released in 1991.

The 68LC040 functions much like a 68020 for coding and has similar low power consumption. But it is significantly faster. There is a bug in some mask revisions of this CPU that will cause some pending instructions to fail to execute when software FPU emulation is attempted. Certain 68LC040 Macs have these flawed chips. Most 68LC040 chips do not have this flaw. A full 68040 cpu can be directly swapped for a flawed 68LC040 cpu.
