Dehumanization

Culture concept

People, human or otherwise, are somehow dehumanized beyond what they actually are, often with the express purpose of removing moral conundrums about harming such people.

Name variations: dehumanisation

Usually applied in varying degrees to the antagonist's underlings, the evil army, and such.

For humans this is usually quite obvious when you're given propaganda about the enemy that doesn't have any basis in reality (you find proof to the contrary), or they're proven to be anti-villains at some point.

Since it's fairly common for non-humans to be depicted as monsters regardless of what they are, this tag should only be used in cases where it is made obvious to the player that their monstrous nature is more propaganda than anything else.

Note that this does not really require propaganda to be involved, though. The enemy army having inexplicable red eyes for example obviously dehumanizes them, especially when they're supposed to be the same as anyone else.
