Implied:
* Player versus environment
May affect actual difficulty or simply increase the number of opponents or make the existing enemies harder to defeat. Common method is to multiple enemy health and possibly other statistics by the number of players, possibly slightly less.

This is in contrast to the old where games get easier with the increasing number of players (more people dealing with the exactly same threat), with this they get harder instead (or at least try to).
